If you're arriving by air, take the Silver Line express bus from Dulles Airport to the Wiehle-Reston metro station, where there are easy connections to the rest of the city. From downtown Washington, take the G2 bus to the university's main gates, or the D6 bus to the northern edge of campus.
Georgetown's most famous building, Healy Hall, is listed as a National Historic Landmark. Although the building houses academic offices and lecture theaters, visitors can step inside for a look. Outside, the manicured lawns are the perfect location for taking a break from sightseeing.
Just south of the university and on the banks of the Potomac, Georgetown Waterfront Park has been created from an old dock area. In summer, the fountains are a popular place for locals wanting to cool off. Walk through the Rain Gardens, which are packed with local flowers and plants, and rest on the River Steps for a picnic or just to watch the world go by. The park also offers bike, canoe, and rowboat rentals.
