The University of Arizona is served by Tucson's international airport, which is a mere 20-minute drive from the campus along Tucson Boulevard or the I-10. Phoenix is approximately two hours' drive away.
Tucson is a city rich in culture. See the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Saguaro National Park for a glimpse at the mesmerizing landscapes that define the area. Old Tucson, a theme park and studio, offers plenty of entertainment to immerse you in the local film industry that's still active today. You can also visit the Kitt Peak National Observatory and stargaze through the powerful telescopes.
As Tucson is close to the border, it boasts superb Mexican cuisine – there's an official food tour available if you'd like to try all the local specialties. The surrounding region has a strong wine industry, especially in Cochise County. You can drive here for tastings, or stay in Tucson and sample the local product in the bars. There are also two renowned local breweries, Borderlands and Thunder Canyon, worth check out.
