Originally constructed in 1948, Surf City Pier weathered many a storm until Hurricane Fran finally washed it away in 1996. The new and improved version includes a well-stocked tackle shop, food stalls and an array of seaside souvenirs, so you can re-live your sunny summers here anytime.
3. Missiles and More Museum
There is indeed more to this missile museum than meets the eye. It's the product of a passionate group of citizens, keen to preserve this Historical Assembly building. The building was once used to assemble missiles for secret operations.
4. Sea Turtle Rescue & Rehabilitation Center
This rehabilitation center preserves Topsail's sea turtle nests, which line its 26-mile coastline. It has itself been rehabilitated and now occupies a 13,000 square foot building. Come and help the sea turtles thrive, taking your chance to see the little ones up close!
5. Topsail Beach
Folklore tells that Topsail is so named because pirate ships hid behind the island with only their topsails visible from the sea. Topsail's famous beach is only accessible by bridge, retaining a sequestered feel that contributes to the deep feeling of tranquillity visitors find on its shore. Dolphins and sea turtles are some of its only inhabitants, though Topsail town is home to a welcoming community and stunning vacation homes.
