There are two very short main trails in the park and a few trails that link different areas of the campgrounds. All the trails in this park are level and rated as easy. You can certainly hike all the trails in the park in one day but you may want to stay for a few days for relaxation at one of the Lake Whitney State Park hotels.
This 0.9-mile trail takes hikers through a section of natural forests and crosses two small streams. There are signs along the trail naming the different trees found in the area. Dog are allowed on the trail as long as they are on a leash.
A short 0.9-mile trail along the shores of Lake Whitney passes through beautiful forests. This hike is flat and should take hikers less than an hour to complete.
This loop trail is just 0.5-miles long and takes hikers to the Lake from one of the camping areas. Deer and turkey are often seen on this trail.
This State Park has plenty of activities to keep the whole family busy. The views of the Lake from Lake Whitney State Park cabins are spectacular and will add to the sense of relaxation found here. You may want to stay a few days to really take in all that this park has to offer.
Take your family to enjoy one of the most popular activities at Lake Whitney. There are a number of different fish species in the lake and you can find excellent fishing spots just a short walk from the accommodation areas.
Bring your own bike or hire one and explore the roads and trails that circle the lake. The area is very flat making this an ideal place for young kids just learning to ride.
In summer the lake is a great place for swimming. There is a sectioned off swimming beach with shallow water and no fishing is allowed in the area.
The park offers a number of different ranger programs throughout the years. Kids will love the Junior Ranger Program that allows them to earn a certificate by answering a few questions about the park with a Rangers help.
