There are six trails at this park, each with varying lengths but none too strenuous. Go on a pleasant hike on one of the trails during your stay at Galveston Island State Park hotels or combine a couple of them if you are looking for something more challenging. Routes leading through marshes, dunes and seaside will give you a glimpse of Galveston's diverse ecosystem.
An easy 0.5mi. round-trip hike, this trail is perfect for nature enthusiasts as you can observe the park's wetlands restoration project from a ground-level vantage point.
A 0.3mi. round trip, this trail is excellent for a quick hike. Being an interpretive trail, it also offers plenty of information to hikers about the local wildlife and nature.
Hike for just 0.3mi. on this trail, and you will soon be able to see one of the biggest freshwater ponds in the park. This trail also connects to the Freshwater Pond Loop if you wish to go further to spot alligators.
0.8mi. long and passing alongside water, this easy trail offers a lovely hike and will give you an idea of what the island looked like when it was covered with prairie grass.
Galveston Island State Park cabins offer a unique island setting for a family vacation, attracting both locals and travelers from afar.
