Welcome to Riverview Retreat!

This incredible cabin is located directly on the Watauga River in Valle Crucis, with 26 acres stretching up behind the house. The original Mast General Store and Valle Crucis Community Park are 3.5 miles from Riverview Retreat. Downtown Boone and Downtown Banner Elk are 25 minutes, and Blowing Rock is 35 minutes. Other nearby places of interest are Grandfather Mountain State Park and Profile Trail, Sugar Mountain, Alpine Run Wilderness Coaster and Adventure Park, Hawksnest Snow Tubing and Zipline, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Riverview Retreat is a central location to many High Country activities and attractions.

There is plenty to do for fun and relaxation at Riverview Retreat. This cabin boasts a spacious lower-level game room with multiple games, a big-screen TV, a hot tub, a fire pit, and a large deck overlooking the river. You will also enjoy direct access to the Watauga River. Fishing enthusiasts will be delighted at this prime fishing location with 700 feet of river bank to walk along and fish the river. The river is stocked with trout, and fishing poles are provided for guest use in the shed. Please remember to seek the proper licensing with Fish and Wildlife.

The blend of sophistication and mountain charm on the main level inspires. The formal living room has high vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, leather furniture, and a stone wood-burning fireplace. The main floor also includes a separate media room for reading or streaming on the smart TV. The spacious kitchen flows into the dining room with a custom raw edge wood dining table and out to the main level deck with a gas grill and outdoor seating. Guests of all ages will love the outdoor space to explore and enjoy, from the picnic table platform above the house to numerous quiet, relaxing places to watch the river flow by. Riverview Retreat was designed and constructed to flow with the natural stone and includes native landscaping and custom-built details inside and out. The hot tub sits on the lower level patio, and below is the fire pit and yard to enjoy a game of cornhole together.

The main level king master bedroom is bright and spacious with high vaulted ceilings, windows, deck access, and a private ensuite bathroom. It has a small sleeper chair for a child's sleeping spot. Upstairs are a queen bedroom and a bunk room with two twin-over-twin bunks that share a full upstairs bathroom. The downstairs bedroom has a king bed and a double-over-double bunk bed.

The lower-level game room is a delightful space with something different around every corner. There is a huge flat-screen Smart TV, cozy seating, two arcade games, and a fun space with foosball and shuffleboard. The media space on the lower level has a couch that serves as an additional sleeping space for two. Riverview Retreat also includes a dedicated quiet workspace, a large laundry room, and a poker table on the main level. Book lovers will be delighted with an extensive library of reading material throughout the cabin. Outside, the shed has fishing poles, kayaks, life jackets, river floating tubes, and a pop-up tent that can be used on the upper platform for fun. The shed by the river also has plenty of space to store your gear, too!

Riverview Retreat has a paved driveway with parking for 4 vehicles. Winter travelers should prepare for inclement weather with AWD or 4WD vehicles and tire chains. There is central heating and air conditioning, wifi, and Smart TVs throughout for guests to log into their streaming accounts. Two dogs are welcome with a reservation. Allows pets with an additional fee paid after booking. The fee is $35 per pet per day.

"Book this house. Space? Plenty. Location? Absolutely. Natural surrounding features? Good luck finding something better. Activities for families? How about an entire downstairs with games, living area and a gigantic tv? Driving distance to Boone and Blowing Rock is under 25 minutes and there was a ton of private space by the water in front of the house. Also, an underrated feature, this house gets sunlight from around 10 AM until dusk. We've been to the area about 6 times in the past few years and we won't stay in another home again."

"Stayed here with 15 family and friends couldn't have had a better time. Tons to do for the kids and Adults. My 4 year old son caught his first fish ever right off the bridge on the property. We loved the Alpine coaster, grandfather mountain and the sticky buns from stickboy bread cafe. What a wonderful trip we had at riverview retreat. Totally would stay here again in the summers to come. Sitting on the deck in the mornings was one of the most peaceful experiences of my life."

"Riverview Retreat sits in between beautiful rocks right on the banks of the Watauga River, and it is more than just a cabin; it's a haven of tranquility and joy, especially for families. My kids were over the moon with the endless activities, from the game room with video games to splashing around in the river and exploring the backside of the mountain. It felt like a world away from the hustle, yet it was super close to Boone, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock, allowing for fun day trips. We visited grandfather mountain too which was a beautiful drive to the summit. The cabin itself is a charming blend of rustic elegance and comfort, making every moment there feel special. Our children laughed and played all day outdoors and we spent cozy evenings by the fire pit. This retreat didn't just offer a place to stay; it provided a plethora of family memories."

"Riverview Retreat is an exceptional 5-star destination, perfect for fly fishing. Coming from Florida, I found this mountain retreat to be a delightful change of scenery. Its direct access to the trout-stocked Watauga River made for excellent fly fishing. The cabin itself was luxurious and really well maintained. It's an ideal spot for a peaceful and rewarding fishing experience. This cabin offers a unique blend of outdoor adventure and comfort, making it a top choice for anyone looking for quality fishing in a beautiful mountain environment. I can't wait to come back up here in the spring and fish the NC side and Tennessee side of the Watauga again. The cabin couldnt be in a more convenient location with it so close to Boone. I was able to talk to some local FLY shops to get the lowdown on what the fish were biting"

"Pictures do this cabin no justice, It's amazing. I was sitting outside this morning saw otters swimming in the river cardinals and eagles flying around and a deer walked right up the driveway. The peaceful sounds of the river are absolutely fantastic to fall asleep to or just enjoy while sitting next to the fire. My dog absolutely loved running all over the acreage of the property."

"My husband and I and our 3 kids stayed here last month and what a delightful time we had. We drive a Tesla so having an electric charger in the garage at the cabin made it an easy choice for us! Our kids loved being able to walk down and hop right in the river and tube and kayak. They had a blast! We all enjoyed the hot tub at night as a way to relax and take in the quiet and peacefulness. The views at the house speak for themselves.. the pictures don't do it justice. What a difference from our life in Florida. Easy 20 minute drive into Boone for sight seeing and delicious pizza and great local beer at Lost province. Took a 30 minute drive over to blowing rock as well. Loved, loved this property.. we will stay here again."

"I just got finished staying at this cabin with my family and my family friends (there was 14 total of us). I have to say we didn't feel packed in at all, the cabin has so many rooms and things to do for each person that everyone at night could break off into pairs or what ever and just do their thing. I loved the poker table.. I hadn't played much poker in the last few years but we found ourselves playing poker every night for an hour or two while the kids played arcade games and shuffle board. Really enjoyed the alpine coaster and hawks nest zip lining. Location was great, close enough to Boone to use instacart for food and grocery delivery but out in the country enough to truly relax."

"I recently stayed at Riverview retreat in April for a guided fly fishing trip I had planned in nearby Tennessee. What a great location. Not only was the cabin beautiful and peaceful and close to Boone and banner elk but it literally allowed me to fly fish right from the property and catch multiple browns and rainbow trout. The deck was amazing and while sitting out having coffee in the morning I had a bald eagle sitting on the tree limb overlooking the river looking for fish. Great experience would rent this cabin again."
