Welcome to Top of the World!

Top of the World earns its name with truly expansive mountain top views and a spacious outdoor area sitting eye-to-eye with the surrounding peaks. The interior has a tasteful, contemporary mountain contemporary style, with an eclectic flair throughout, further elevated by the 2021 renovations performed by its new owners.

Guests can relax and enjoy the ridgetop views from the oversized deck, the hot tub, the porch swing, or the fire pit and picnic area. Relax indoors in the bright, open great room and bar, or the lower level game room and den while playing pool, foosball, or a game on the Multicade arcade machine. Or enjoy the comfy sitting area and the large HD Smart TV. There is also a new full bathroom on the lower level for added convenience.

There are two suites with king beds, one on the main level and one on the upper level. Both have HD Smart TVs, custom ensuite bathrooms, sitting areas, and beautiful views. The third is a generous king bedroom with an HD Smart TV and oversized windows revealing impressive long-range views. The fourth is a queen bedroom, also furnished with an HD Smart TV. The fifth is a bunk room with a twin-over-full bunk bed. A third full bathroom upstairs services these bedrooms.

The main level boasts a large, open kitchen with stainless appliances and marble countertops. The open dining area offers ample seating for eleven (11) guests and is adjacent to the sitting area and the great room. The great room features a stone fireplace with gas logs, a nice bar, an HD Smart TV, soaring ceilings, and a wall of windows and glass doors allowing sunlight in and framing the priceless mountain top views. There is a cozy sitting area with two custom armchairs in front of a dramatic view window, as well as a half bath/powder room.

The renovated lower level is a huge game room and den with a fourth full bathroom. It features an eight-foot slate pool table, a foosball table, and a cocktail-style Multicade arcade machine loaded with tons of retro and current video games. The den is open to the game room and has comfortable furniture and a large wall-mounted HD Smart TV.

For more mountain views and fun, visit nearby Hawk's Nest for Ziplining and Snowtubing - just a few minutes away. The new Alpine Wilderness Roller Coaster is a short eight (8) mile drive from Top Of The World. Sugar Mountain offers winter fun on the ski slopes, ice skating, and an 18-hole public golf course, all less than nine (9) miles away. Beech Mountain Ski Resort is about sixteen (16) miles away. Appalachian Ski Mountain and Tweetsie Railroad are about seventeen (17) miles away, on the other side of Boone. Grandfather Mountain and its famed Profile Hiking Trails are a short five (5) mile drive from the house. The village of Valle Crucis, with its famous Original Mast General Store and huge riverfront community park, is only eleven (11) miles away. Downtown Banner Elk is less than eleven (11) miles away. The town of Boone is less than twelve (12) miles away, and downtown Blowing Rock is less than fifteen (15) miles away. Enjoy everything the High Country has to offer, from this convenient, centrally located vacation destination.

"This property was so gorgeous inside and out, with the best outdoor space! We spent many evenings on the deck, watching the sunsets, grilling out and sharing time with friends. The patio furniture was excellent! The master bedroom and bath were superb. Especially the tub! We had a group of friends in for dinner one night and the dining room table and lighting elicited "oohs and ahhhhh" from everyone. The lighting in general was fabulous, the huge foyer chandelier, the numerous dining room choices, the outdoor lighting which made it safe at night, etc. The bird feeders also made for lots of great birding each day right on the deck. And the large, safe parking area was much appreciated by our dinner guests! The only thing that we could say might be improved is that the living room furniture (although comfortable) was not set up for more than one person to be able to see the television comfortably, as the TV was situated off to the side of the couch in the bar area. The TV itself was great, but three people had to turn sideways and look around one another to see it. Perhaps some individual comfortable chairs, all angled toward the TV would work better. .. Thanks again for a fabulous, safe home which we absolutely loved!"

"It was so peaceful and great for family trip. View is amazing and this home has everything from kitchen utensils to games plenty enough for all guests. Only thing is basement game room has no instructions for turning on heater and we called maintenance thinking it's not working, maintenance is super fast and very prompt. I will definitely come back for many more stays.."

"We stayed with family to celebrate an App State graduate. The house is set up wonderful for a larger group (we had 10) to hang out and have fun. From the game room to the views (AMAZING views) and just the open concept living room to kitchen was great. The home was well stocked from the kitchen to the bedding, blankets and towels. Rooms were large and comfortable. We had grandparents so the 3 King beds and one on the main floor were appreciated. CCR was very organized and communicated well prior to our arrival. When we had questions they were impressively responsive. I would definitely rent again from them and would love to have the opportunity (excuse) to stay at Top of the World again. The short and very nearby Otter Falls hiking trail to a waterfall was a nice surprise."

"We stayed at this cabin with another family for over a week. The cabin is great with spectacular views. Beautiful large deck outside where you can admire the beauty all around you. Cabin was nicely appointed and very clean. There are two very large master bedrooms and 3 other decent sized rooms. Everyone kept saying how comfortable the beds were. There is a nice kitchen and large living room with a fire place. There is also a large basement with some games and a pool table. Outside is a great area around a fire pit where we had a nice fire each night. The only issue we ran into is the drive up the mountain. On our first day we had a snow storm and there was no way we could make it down safely. Another day the fog was so bad we almost didn't make it up. There are some very tight and steep turns and I definitely recommend 4 wheel drive. That's the price you pay to get these amazing views. Cabin was close to everything, especially Sugar Mountain and Grandfather Mountain. We skied for three days. We will definitely be back."

"We have stayed at Top of the World during MLK weekend for the past several years (had to cancel last year due to covid). Plenty of room for our family to be together. Great views. The recent redecorating was very well done. It has been a destination our whole family looked forward to each year. As my wife and I have grown older, and our children are now parents, our yorkie has become like a child to us. We are very reluctant to travel without him. I normally book for the MLK weekend of the following year right after the trip just completed. Meaning, I would like to book next year today. However, Top of the World is not pet friendly. I understand. We own a property in Garden City Beach, SC. We have our rental company rent it as “Not Pet Friendly” because we don't think everyone is as contentious as they should be when they bring a pet with them. Too many people don't even watch their children as much as they should when they rent a vacation property. But, on some occasions, when we know the renters, we may make an exception to the no pet policy. If the owners of Top of the World would grant us an exception for our pet I would like to reserve their property for our next family mountain trip on MLK weekend in January 2023."

"Our family truly enjoyed our two weeks at TOP OF THE WORLD! The home is tastefully decorated and newly renovated. Careful thought was put into every detail, and every convenience is present. Our adult children and grandchildren circulated through over the two weeks and the "WOWS" were frequent. The house in Seven Devils is convenient all attractions, trails and shopping, but also secluded and peaceful once you are there. Perfect!"

"Beautifully appointed home in the mountains comfortably accommodated our group of 10. The kitchen was spacious and well stocked. The large dining table ensured nobody was left to find seating elsewhere during meals, though we did enjoy eating on the back porch with the amazing mountain views. The bedrooms were nice and large with ample closet space. The kids really had a blast playing pool and video games in the basement. We had a great time and made lots of precious memories!"

"The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and very clean. The views are spectacular. The only negative is that the downstairs game room was painted/stained the morning of our arrival day so the smell was pretty strong downstairs. We were unable to use it the first few days due to the smell. Also the heat didn't work downstairs so once we got past the smell you had to deal with the cold. Also one of the dining room chairs that had recently been glued back together came apart during our stay."

"We stayed at Top of the World for a few days after Christmas. It really is on top the world. The house has incredible views and lots of big windows. We really enjoyed watching the light and clouds travel across the mountains. We also enjoyed sitting by the huge stone fireplace and reading beside the fire in the afternoons and evenings. We had a dip in the hot tub one night also. Much of the house, including the bathrooms, has been recently updated so it feels fresh and modern. The interior design is also updated and feels like a vacation/ mountain house without the usual (and tiresome) cabin theme (heavy logs, bears, etc). The house was well cleaned (other than the back deck -- see comment below). The beds and linens are all very nice. The kitchen has all the utensils, pots and pans you need to prepare meals, tea, and coffee. There is a good set of knives. There are no spices (other than basic salt and pepper) or cooking oils. The house is very big and can easily accommodate a large group. We had two teenagers with us and they really liked having big bedrooms to retreat to as well as the space in the basement with the pool table and ping pong table. For anyone staying at the house in the winter, you really do need to take the emails seriously about snow and access. The roads up to the house are steep, sharp angled, and narrow. It had a snowed a few days before we arrived and while the roads were mainly clear we definitely needed 4 wheel/ all wheel drive in a few icy/slushy spots. The only issues we had during our stay were that we couldn't get the TV in the main room (behind the bar) to connect to the internet (though the TVs in the bedrooms worked fine) and whoever stayed at the house before us had let their dog use the back deck and did not clean up the excrement afterwards, which was unsightly. The basement and area around the hot tub are not very inviting/ not updated like the rest of the house. Overall this is lovely, spacious, comfortable vacation house with amazing views. I would stay again."

"The house was all we needed for they overflow of our family since we own a house down the street. On the exterior it boasted a lovely setting truly situated on the to of the hill with beautiful views in all directions and lots of outdoor space. On the interior the home was set up for entertainment with two large and very convenient dining areas and lovely fireplace. The only things I could critique would be the lack of enough towels, not enough seating in the living room, the king size bed is slanted and the small stone wall under the patio. Is deteriorating. Overalll, the house worked out perfectly for what we needed and the communication form Carolina Cabins was fantastic. Thank you for a great week. Meike"
