Description

Welcome to Eagle's Nest, a purpose-built vacation rental cabin. It's near our Tree Top, Fish Trap and Green Castle cabins and, like them, is also river-front, sitting up high above the river with an area to walk down to the river's edge. It's part of an 18-acre "fish trap" location that was used by ancient American Indians hundreds of years ago.

Eagle's Nest is a large beautiful property with a modern beautiful exterior and interior. Hardwood floors, stainless appliances, flat-screen TVs - everything is new, luxurious and waiting for your personal enjoyment. The pictures capture some of the beauty, modern design, nature, and open spaces. Take a look at those and drink it all in!

In terms of size, Eagle's Nest can fit larger groups of 10 but would also work for a couple or small family. There are three (3) bedrooms and two (2) full bathrooms. The third bedroom is the large loft area you see in the living room pictures. There is a queen and two twin beds in that loft area. The main two bedrooms both have queen beds.

You're going to love your time here. As we work to enhance, expand and grow this property, we continue our mission to be your weekend river cabin of choice. Book now before your dates are gone!

FAQ / Cabin Rules:

Because of the remote nature of the cabin, the internet is provided by a satellite provider. Because of this, video streaming is not possible without severely impacting the data cap for the month. If you stream video, the internet will most likely be cut off during your stay.

PLEASE NOTE: The optional firewood charge of $12/night is for firewood for the outdoor fire pit. (The indoor fireplace at this property is gas.) If you don't think you will use the firewood or would like to bring your own, please let us know! We are more than happy to refund that to you.

Also NOTE: No parties, events, or gatherings of guests that are not included in the reservation are allowed at Eagle's Nest.

The base rate includes 5 people. Additional guests are extra $40 per person per night, please read the itemized charges carefully and make sure to make your reservation for the correct number of guests that will be staying. Thank you!

Check-in 4:00 PM Check-out 11:00 AM

Dogs are welcome! There is a limit of 2, with a pet fee of $65 per dog. Unfortunately, we can't accept cats. Sorry about that!

There is no trash service in this area. We ask that you please take your trash with you- there is information in the cabin on where to go to take it so that you don't have to take it all the way home with you!
Alternatively, housekeeping can remove it for you for a tip of $5 per bag.

"I am truly already trying to plan another trip here. This house was spacious, clean, and surrounded by gorgeous scenery. It had everything we needed for a successful weekend, including cookware and a first aid kit, while being the perfect place for relaxation as well as a great venue spot for games and fun. We loved making s'mores with the firepit and taking out the canoes! 11/10."

"I stayed at Eagles Nest for the weekend with my family (5 people) and we had such an amazing time. The property was absolutely beautiful, cozy, quiet, and private with great amenities such as canoes for us to use, a hot tub, grill, fire pit (with fire wood included), a screened in porch, deck, access to the river for boating and fishing, and so much more. The property was clean and spacious and felt cabin-like with the wildlife decor inside which I loved and had gorgeous views of the Shenandoah river. We had such a great time and didn't want to leave! We will definitely be visiting again!"

"Honestly everything about Eagle's Nest was amazing. We have been coming down to the Shenandoah Valley since 2005 and this is by far one of the best houses that we have stayed in. The house/linens were clean, kitchen was well stocked, and the views were mesmerizing. The entire property and surrounding houses within the community all look very well cared for. Communication with owner/management was very easy and timely. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for opening your home to us."

"Our family of 8 adults, 1 teenager and 2 small dogs spent 3 nights after Christmas at Eagle's Nest. It is our family tradition. We have been renting cabins in Luray around Christmas for 20 years. We always choose a different cabin, having only stayed in the same cabin one time, until now. We will definitely be booking Eagle's Nest again. We had an amazing time! The cabin has incredible views from all rooms! It was very clean. Everything worked properly. We did not have to reach out to the owners or house manager for anything. We had plenty of room. It was nice that the hot tub was under cover so that we could still enjoy it while raining. The deck with the river and mountains (in the distance) behind was great for family photos. Our only complaint was that we had to leave."

"We immensely enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Eagle's Nest property. The large windows and deck offered an excellent view of the Shenandoah River and hills in the background before the trees leaf out. There were many different types of birds that could be viewed from the couch with binoculars (bring your own). The cabin was clean and well cared for. The kids tested out tubes in the river (a bit cold). The water is shallow but rock formations are difficult to navigate by foot. We tried the Kennedy peak trail which is about a 15 minute drive from the cabin on the west side of the river as an alternative to Shenandoah National Park."

"The house and porch were so nice. We saw a bald eagle sitting right on a branch out front. We came to visit Shenandoah. The house was about 30 minutes from the park entrance. It’s about 15 minutes into town and to see the Caverns. We did not use the kayaks but we did use the hot tub and that was great. We enjoyed the fireplace as well. This is not a rental that keeps spices in the pantry. If you are big cookers you must pack ahead. We never had to reach out to management for anything. Everything was easy and clean."

"This was our first time visiting Luray, VA and we could not have chosen a better place. There were 5 of us and we had plenty of room to sleep, extra blankets, pillows, and towels if we needed them. We had everything we needed for kitchen ware as well. They really thought of everything to make the stay for anyone renting comfortable and easy. I had brought extra stuff with me, but it was not needed. The owners and Kevin, their house manager, were very easily accessible. Our stay was without a hitch. I had four 16 year olds with me, as this is what my daughter chose to do for her sweet 16. They had a blast taking out the canoe and hanging out in the hot tub. They were never bored and my daughter said it was the best birthday ever! Sometimes when you stay away at places the mattresses are not very comfortable. They put the effort and apparently money into getting good mattresses b/c they were very comfortable. I highly recommend Eagle's Nest to anyone visiting the area. If we visit the area again this is where we will stay."

Everything was very convenient and there was nothing missing, from all the necessary cook ware, to even extra blankets and towels. They really thought of everything. "My six-person family reserved the cabin for four days to spend Christmas together. We drove a great distance with a cooler packed with meats, vegetables, pastries, and other items to cook and bake together. The oven had failed to work when we arrived, and the dishwasher had a puddle of stale unclean water (not soap or well water). More importantly, the oven was unable to keep the temperature stable. The house manager's immediate answer was surprising and extremely revealing of the experience we had signed up for. They argue that stale dirty water in the dishwasher is typical. There was no accountability, and they blamed earlier visitors they were probably using tin foil without realizing it was a gas oven. Utensils in the kitchen are worn out, and pots and pans should have been replaced years ago. Bring your own cook ware and utensils; this is not the place to cook and share a meal with family and friends. When guests contact Shenandoah Rentals, they are asked if the problems persist after the next guests arrive. This means that no proactive checkout mechanism exists to confirm the accuracy of their listing. We recognize that getting equipment repaired at this time of year might be difficult. We are not picky and do not have high expectations, but we felt obliged to report our experience given the minimal effort made by all parties involved to assure our satisfaction."

"Shenandoah Rentals was one of the most communicative & organized property management groups I have worked with & Eagles Nest was amazing! Pilar at SR was exceptionally responsive, accommodating & helpful. There is an on site manager while staying at the unit, but we didn't need him (although I am certain if we did, SR standards would have been met!). SR sent multiple messages with reminders about the property amenities, location & tips. They advertised accessibility, & I double checked because we have booked places before for one of my friends who is ina wheelchair only to arrive and have nmsteps, no rails, no ramps, etc., but Eagles Nest met the challenge: Ramps were deployed when we srrived, bars in the bathroom, as well as a roll in shower (if you have a portable shower chair take it) ! We were all wowed by that touch and so excited our firend could easily navigate through the house. And the view ! Wow, you just can't get enough of it! It was stunning! The foliage changed before our eyes like magic. The house was clean, linens were provided and in well condition, kitchen was equipped, & the river babbling was just the right kind of white noise to hear every day and night as we spent hours on the deck (lower level deck where the hot tub, fire pit & screened porch was not accessible). SR gives fair warning about cell service, etc. We all used wi-fi calling and were able to get calls out/emails if desired. We didn't turn the TV on once so I have no feedback on that! They do provide a fun selection of DVDs if you're interested in watching something. Bottom line: Whether or not you need wheelchair accessibility, Eagles Nest is a win as well as Shenandoah Rentals!"

"My family stayed for a long weekend. Perfect size for the 5 of us. Kitchen was well equipped and a large dining room table for gathering. It was spectacular to wake up to a beautiful view of river. Overall, a wonderful stay. Small issue was the abundance of ants in kitchen drawers; however, this is a cabin so battling them may be common for this time of year (late summer)."

"Eagle’s Nest was everything it claimed to be: A lovely, well-built and beautifully maintained home. It was outfitted with everything you need to enjoy the Shenandoah River and surrounding areas. Ample good quality linens, towels and activities were also provided. We highly recommend staying here. There are six properties on the site, but they are well spaced so it’s easy to feel you’re on your own. If you have trouble with stairs, however, you’ll want to select one of the lower properties. Ours shared a very steep staircase to the water front that we didn’t mind because of the beautiful views we had, but this could be a deterrent for others. It was great having the canoes on site for our daily river explorations. Make sure you visit the nearby Luray Caverns!"

"We reserved the house well over a year prior to our planned stay and the staff was very good to work with as we modified our original reservation to add some additional days to our stay. Directions to the house can be a little challenging with a GPS but the second set of instructions from the company (using S. Valley Page Rd.) were most helpful. The house was very clean, well furnished and had wonderful views and access to the river. The hot tub had some residue collecting around the edge and we contacted the staff who arrived later that day to investigate the issue. The staff was very pleasant and apologetic and came back each day to check on the issue. While we’re unable to use the hot tub given the various efforts to remedy the problem leading to the decision to drain, clean and refill it (occurred on our last day), the nice lady working the issue was trying everything to correct it. The kitchen was well stocked with bakeware, cups, plates and utensils and the dishwasher worked great. The slow drip coffee maker was nice sized but redefined the meaning of slow drip taking about 2 hours to brew a pot of coffee (tough for those of needing our first cup early and quickly) - recommend replacing that particular appliance ASAP. We absolutely loved the area, the river, the house and we spent lots of time enjoying the sun and heat on the large top deck in the mornings with hours in the screened in porch in the evening. The AC worked wonderfully - it was very hot outside during our stay. We all agreed we would definitely come back for another stay. The house was also pet friendly and our dog loved the decks and walks in the area."

Wide open spaces allowed for us to roam and enjoy all the homestead had to offer...fire pit, hot tub, grill. The porch deck was perfect to watch the sunrise and listening to the river run was an oasis. We made all our meals at the house and just enjoyed tons of games, puzzles, and binged watch Harry Potter on dvds. What a great way to celebrate a birthday milestone in the family. Relaxing, right on the river, views of the mountains, hot tub, amazing fire pit and screened in porch. This house has everything. Great sized kitchen for cooking meals. Some folks have noted that it's difficult to get down to the river, but it looks like the staircase from the house to the river was recently installed and while it's large, like 7 or 8 flights, it's really easy to get down now. This is the first rental where we didn't have salt, pepper, cooking oil, etc. Not a deal breaker for us but something to note. Firepit, grill and hot tub are around the back and down steep steps. Walk out the front door and head to your left. Not a major inconvenience, but I wish I'd known prior. Garbage - either $5 a bag, or you drive it yourself to the facility.
