Description

Tree Top is a brand new purpose-built vacation rental that just opened in August 2017. It's near our Fish Trap and Green Castle cabins and, like them, is also river-front, sitting up high above the river with an area to walk down to the river's edge. It's part of an 18 acre "fish trap" location that was used by ancient American Indians hundreds of years ago.

Tree Top is a large beautiful property with a modern beautiful exterior and interior. Hardwood floors, stainless appliances, flat-screen TVs - everything is new, luxurious and waiting for your personal enjoyment. The pictures capture some of the beauty, modern design, nature and open spaces. Take a look at those and drink it all in!

In terms of size, Tree Top can fit larger groups of 10 but would also work for a couple or small family. There are three (3) bedrooms and two (2) full bathrooms. The third bedroom is the large loft area you see in the living room pictures. There is a queen and two twin beds in that loft area. The main two bedrooms both have queen beds.

You're going to love your time here. As we work to enhance, expand and grow this property, we continue our mission to be your weekend river cabin of choice. Book now before your dates are gone!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tree Top. We continue to come back year after year! As always, the house was clean and everything in great working order! We enjoyed beautiful days kayaking on the river and evenings out at the firepit and in the hot tub. Meal times were a breeze with everything needed in the kitchen. We will be back soon!"

"We had a wonderful couple of days at this cabin. Beautifully decorated and well stocked. I loved the wall to wall windows overlooking the river and mountains from every room. The fire pit, hot tub and screened in porch were located around the back of the house and very nicely arranged. A long staircase descends to the river below where you can find the canoes. Pretty private location with a neighbor to the left and woods to the right. Great place if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing place to get away from it all but just a short drive to downtown Luray and the caverns. We brought our dog which is a bonus and the cabin is so clean you would never know they host families with dogs."

"Tree top was absolutely beautiful. The cabin was just as the ad stated. We had so much fun and even got a ton of exercise going up and down the stairs to get a closer look at the water. The only negative was there was no propane in the gas grill but that was resolved very quickly. Living area could use a lamp or two, but we made it work. Was SO MUCH FUN!"

"This was the perfect spot to end 2023 and ring the new year! The views were breathtaking even, this this time of year and I would love to come back every season! It was quiet at the end of the path and we had plenty of privacy. The sound of the river below was so peaceful. We found the home very clean and much roomy than expected. We loved of course the views, sitting on the deck, and walking down to the river. The screened in room down below was a nice surprise. It was so relaxing to sit in the hot tub then and then to stay warm at the fire pit and have Smores. The grill was perfect to cook our New Year's Eve filet. The kitchen was spacious and fully stocked and the large dining room table gave us plenty of room to have game nights. There were plenty of towels and having the laundry room with a place to put our outerwear worked out well. The handicap ramp and bathroom was a big help for my disabled mother. The Christmas tree was a nice touch. When we were not just enjoying hanging out at the house, we hiked trails in Shenandoah National Park, Shenandoah State Park and drove along Skyline Drive, which is a must see. We visited the Luray Caverns, car museum, maze, and Luray Valley Museum and found them very interesting and worth it. We ate at the Watch and Warrant in town. The food was delicious and we had great service. Also, we went horseback riding at Fort Valley Ranch. It was on a mountain trail with the most incredible views of the valley. The guides and horses really"

"Enjoyable stay! September 2023 We stayed for a long weekend. Upon arrival, we could not get the code to work for the key for the front door. The house manager saw us struggling and immediately came over to gain access for us. He was pleasant and helpful. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. Everything we needed was there. We especially enjoyed linens being provided. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay"

"Tree Top Cabin is a great place to stay on the Shenandoah River! This is our 4th time staying at Tree Top. The owners are great to work with and the house is the perfect setup for our family. The house itself was clean and inviting. We enjoyed the sitting on the deck to watch the sunrise every morning overlooking the river and evenings spent in the hot tub or around a camp fire. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed (other than food) to make all of our meals. The location is ideal for spending days on the river kayaking or fishing. Shenandoah Outfitters just up the road if you need kayak rentals. We brought our own kayaks and there are plenty of access points all along the area. Just be sure to check the river water levels as it was low the week we stayed and some drop points are better than others. The property rental also comes with 2 canoes which we used more for fishing in the evening. Our dogs especially loved their time on the river! I will say because the house sits high up the mountain bank, there are a lot of steps to get down to the river in front of the house, It may not be best with small children or elderly going up and down the steps unless you want a great workout. The river is rocky in front of the house, so definitely bring water shoes. We absolutely love the area and the house and will return again next year!"

"This is a beautiful, well equipped, and comfortable home with an amazing setting and views. We loved the gas fireplace with the timer. Property management was quick to respond. One thing for renters to note (as also cited in previous reviews) is that the lower part of the house is NOT accessible from inside the house. So — a long cold walk around if you use the hot tub."

Very good
"First, I'd like to say that the location is wonderful and views are great! Cabin was clean and appeared maintained. As far as the disability features, they are a bit lacking. As someone who is ambulatory, but has difficulty walking, this wasn't the right property for us. First thing upon arrival, we were surprised at how large of a step-up there is just getting into the cabin. In the pictures it shows a ramp. We discovered the ramp later in the laundry room, but that didn't help me get into the property immediately. It was also heavy and difficult for one person to move. As a person who was a previous ADA coordinator, the fact that the front step is so large and doesn't have a permanent ramp (or even a ramp put out for guests) was off putting. A wheelchair or older person with mobility challenges would never be able to maneuver it. The bathroom has a grab bar, walk in shower, and roll up sink. These features were appreciated. The water pressure in this area should be fixed. Barely any water came out from the shower, which mafe showering a much longer process than it needed to be. We read in the guidelines that we should refrain from streaming. We honored this and planned by bringing DVDs. Well, the DVD player in the main room doesn't work. We tried for over an hour to pkay a DVD with no success. There isn't a DVD remote, so we thought it was run through the universal remote- wrong. Didn't work. We called the person we were told to in all the paperwork and they instructed us that they could not help. The gave us another number to call. We did and left a message. Someone texted us and indicated they were not the property manager that couldn't help us. This was also disappointing. The hot tub and fire pit are definitely not accessible. We knew this from the pictures. We were able to navigate down to use the hot tub and although hot with great views, it was filled with lots of sediment. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but were disappointed by the things described. Recommended for young, active and mobile individuals. Not so much if you have more significant mobility challenges, or utilize any mobility device."

"A friend and I escaped the city life for a quick two night stay. The cabin was beautiful, with breath taking views of the mountains and river. The kitchen was well stocked. Could maybe use a couple new cutting boards. We enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub amenities most! The gas fireplace was not working, but the central air was all we really needed. The solar lights along the outside path were not working very well but we had a flashlight. Great time overall!"

"The Tree Top cabin was everything we wanted it to be and more. The views from the front porch were so beautiful, we didn't even end up leaving the house once. The house was so spacious and bright, and was perfect for our group of 6. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit, grill, and access to the river. We are already planning on returning sometime in the future."

"We had four guests stay at Tree Top for an unforgettable weekend. The views are spectacular of the river below and mountains in the distance. We also went on a beautiful tubing trip through Shenandoah River Outfitters, just down the road about 2-3 minute drive. All of the accommodations were excellent, including comfortable beds, a hot and responsive grill, and a fire pit perfect for summer evenings. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a weekend escape in the heart of Shenandoah!"

"We regularly rent higher-end cabins in the Shenandoah area, so it was a pleasant surprise that we found this cabin to be the best we have ever visited! The communication from the property management team was on point, the cabin itself is wonderful, the Jacuzzi is well maintained, and the views are stunning! It was going to snow during our stay, so we extended by a day, and the owner was very accommodating. The only drawbacks to our visit were finding an energy drink can on the porch that had a bunch of used cigarettes in it (must have been missed by the crew - otherwise, the cleaning was very good!), we realized that the Jacuzzi area cannot be accessed from inside the house easily (you need to go out the front door and down a gravel path which was a brisk run in the winter!), the kitchen air vent made a bit of noise (which we were able to fix by blocking it off), the dishwasher is a bit noisy, and the water pressure in the showers was pretty low. None of this detracted significantly from the overall experience, it was still the best luxury cabin we have rented yet. We will absolutely be returning again!"

"Beautiful property that has amazing views of the stars and river with a comforting mountain feel. The amenities at the property were excellent -- comfortable beds, great kitchen area, awesome fireplace -- and the jacuzzi that overlooks the river and stars out back is one the best features that we have had on a trip. Highly recommended place with excellent staff that is incredibly attentive and receptive when communication is needed!"

"We stayed at this cabin as a family getaway and it was perfect! It was super cozy and pet friendly. My dog loved the low lying windows and she would look out at the view of the trees and river. The fireplace was cozy and had a nice seating area for family to gather. This location was right by the river, so if you wanted you could go kayaking or fishing (with a license). Our family enjoyed deck in the morning. It was peaceful to sit on the Adirondack chairs with the trees swaying and sounds of the river. The cabin is nestled in Shenandoah Valley so the drive if scenic to get to because you are surrounded by mountains on both sides. It's a little far from stores so I recommend bringing food ahead of time and making meals at the cabin instead of going out though. My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to go back!"

"The property was just as advertised. Excellent location with views of the river from multiple rooms. It was great to sit by the firepit, use the grill, and enjoy the hot tub all with views of river right beside us. The woodpile was a great amenity that made making a fire a no brainer. The open room in the center of the house was great for board games and dinners. My group is already thinking about a trip back in the summer when we can use the screened in porch."
