"We enjoyed our stay at the cabin under the stars. Our time was spent with peace, solitude, and eclectic art. Don't bother turning on the television, all you need to watch is the scenery of the desert. The location is the perfect spot to get away from everyone, but close enough to anything you need within 15 minutes. Looking forward to coming back to get some more."

"We absolutely loved this property! We had two people, but I'm sure it would be great for two couples or a family. We absolutely loved the character of the property, the location, and the hot tub under the stars. The heat worked well (it was freezing while we visited), and the cabin was well appointed with everything we needed. The cabin is also centrally located between 29 Palms and Joshua Tree, which was great for restaurant options. Overall, a great stay!"

"We absolutely loved our stay! First, a special shoutout to the office staff at HDD who graciously allowed us to move our reservation when we encountered a sudden family emergency. Fast forward to our weekend in the desert and everything was splendid. The cabin is stunning, well kept, and so unique. The same can be said for the setting, which is so serene, even with a neighbor next door. We didn’t notice them at all. The hot tub under the stars was a special treat after a cold day in the park. We appreciate the great stay so much!"

"We very much enjoyed our stay at the cabin and would certainly come again! The cabin was clean, very comfortable and well kept and so interesting in its decor. The only comment I have is that we were fine without walls and a door to each bedroom as we are mother and daughter. I am not sure I would stay at the cabin with another couple. I also appreciated the feedback from Jen and her prompt attention to my questions and concerns prior to our arrival."

"We enjoyed our stay very much. The peace and quiet and location away from the city was exactly what we wanted. We were not able to access the tv, but don’t watch a lot so it wasn’t that big of a deal. More window coverings would help with the early morning blast of sun, but we made so too. I had noticed in the pictures that many windows didn’t have coverings, so it was expected. Overall a lovely experience."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cabin Under the Stars! Relaxing in the hammock in the desert breeze was awesome. It’s about 10-15 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park. We loved hiking the park, stopping at the Joshua Tree saloon for food, then soaking in the hot tub at the cabin. There is a house right next door with a pool, but it was a non-issue. Any noise coming from them was drowned out by the fountain on the property. Despite that, there plenty of privacy. This was a cute, artsy cabin and I would recommend it!"

"My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed this cabin! There are beautiful views of the desert and it’s about 10-15 minutes from Joshua Tree National Park. We enjoyed lying in the hammock in the desert winds and soaking in the hot tub after long hikes in the park. There is a house right next door, but it was really a non issue. A fountain in the yard drowns out most noise. The cabin is a cute artsy place in the desert, not a 5 star hotel. It was perfect for what we were doing!"

"We were camping/traveling with a recently adopted large dog and needed a place with a fenced garden that was close to Joshua Tree. The place worked well for us on both fronts. The outdoor sitting areas were pleasant and while it was hot when we were there opening all the windows/doors and using overhead fans worked fine. There were air conditioners available but we didn't use them. There were people at the other house on the compound but they were super quiet. If they were having a pool party we definitely would have heard them. The place has a cute/funky vibe and was clean but it could use a little TLC. Kitchen is outfitted for really basic cooking (we ended up using a lot of our camping kit) and it would have been nice if there was more than one champagne glass since we were celebrating a birthday."

"What caught our eye about this property was a sense of seclusion, plus its hot tub and visual appeal. It very nicely fulfilled our desires. The location is 15-20 minutes away from the central Joshua Tree town intersection, depending on how slowly you drive up the last 1.5 mile section of dusty, heavily-washboarded dirt road to get to the rental. The cabin sits less than 100 feet away from a larger vacation rental next door on the same property. However, with adequate privacy fencing and with the hot tub on the back side of the cabin, we were pleased with our solitude. We did occasionally get a glimpse of neighboring renters, either out in the parking area or while hiking around the expansive 10-acre property. Noise wasn’t an issue, but as the neighboring rental also has a pool, I would speculate that if children were present, you might hear them frolicking in the pool area. As this location is exposed to open desert, it’s good to keep in mind that the wind can kick up here, especially in afternoons, and with it comes dust. I suppose this also presents a challenge for cleaning staff. We found the essentials, including sheets, towels and dishes, as well as kitchen and living room surfaces to be clean. Bedroom curtains and surfaces, including closets, shelves and tables were quite dusty. Most disappointing was finding a wad of human hair covering the shower drain before either of us stepped in for the first time. On a happier note, someone had fun decorating here. Almost everywhere inside and outside the cabin there is something to catch your eye and demonstrate it was placed there with intent. The architecture and decor are a combination of desert rustic and fanciful. We loved it. We also took delight in the hot tub, which seemed to be well-serviced. The surrounding fencing protects the tub from wind, and it’s perfectly placed with a nearby desert tree providing a scattered bit of shade from the sun. Directly overhead the tub, the sky is open for seeing stars at night. The property management staff were friendly and responsive. They promptly answered all my questions. As hot tub cleaning is performed every Wednesday, the staff had the maintenance guy come early in the morning to accommodate our request for an uninterrupted day. I speculate that they would have also responded had I reported any cleaning issues, but we opted to surrender to desert conditions and prioritize uninterrupted time. Yes, we would stay here again.:)"

"This was a great cabin with unbelievable views. It’s a little off the beaten path and a little hard to find, so try to arrive in daytime. It’s a reasonable drive to Joshua Tree National Park and to the town. My suggestion is to check all the lights when arriving. We didn’t discover that some weren’t working until we tried packing up to leave in the evening. For a small place, this had all the necessary amenities - hot shower, stove/oven, microwave. "It was surely remote and the views are breathtaking. The cabin has lots of funky light/fan knobs (some work, some don't.) The hot tub was amazing andcstar views perfect on clear nights. Wind was wicked strong and no window coverings in most rooms, so a little intimidating at night. We had a few issues which prop management fixed in a timely manner (smoke alarms missing from walls, a unwelcome insect nest outside, bad batteries in all tv remotes.) It was mostly clean, but it doesn't give the impression that the owners have been back to check on it for some time or maybe are not as involved as they can be. The internet is okay for phones, but forget the TV streaming. We did use the DVD once new batteries arrived by prop management. There are lots of movies to chose from. Overall I think The property is, as advertised as, just more rugged and farther into the desert than I expected."

"The quirky art inside and outside the "cabin" is fascinating. It's plenty warm and clean. The hot tub was set at 100, a little less wam than we would have liked but we didn't feel comfortable turning up the setting. We didn't suffer in the hot tub. The 2 mile bumpy dirt road was a surprise as we approached the house at late dusk, when we really didn't know what we were getting into.. By all means, do not trust your GPS. "We loved our stay at this cute little cabin. The location was great - up on a hill you get a spectacular view with perfect overlook of the town below, stars at night, and sunsets. There’s even a cute little lookout spot with benches where you can sit and watch the sun go down. The cabin is close to another property - there was a family staying there. It didn’t bother us but we could hear them when they were out by their pool. The beds are quite firm; they could benefit from a topper. But the property was clean and neat. The jacuzzi was perfect and the little sitting area out front was so nice for morning coffee. The property was fenced in which was great for our dogs but we had to watch the chihuahua closely as he could still fit below the fence. We used the grill and the kitchen had all the basics we needed. This property was so cute with great personality and provided the exact getaway we were looking for! Definitely would recommend!"

"My husband and I loved the Cabin Under the Stars! It was very quaint, clean, provided great views, and offered all the amenities we were looking for while spending our honeymoon hiking in Joshua Tree National Park. The only thing I would say is the house is on a large property on several acres, but we didn’t realize that there was another home within yards of this property. We had the impression from the listing description and pictures that it was completely private, but you do share the lot with another home and possibly others vacationers. There is a small fence and a tiny wall that gives you some privacy from the other house, but we were expecting to be all alone when reserving this house. Luckily the guests staying in the other house were very quiet, but from experience, that’s not always the case. So if you’re looking for complete privacy, keep that in mind when renting this cabin because you never know what type of neighbors you will get. Also, the WiFi didn’t work most of our trip. The signal strength was very low so we couldn’t check our email or use the internet on our devices, but it didn’t matter too greatly as we were mainly there to unwind, relax, and enjoy the beautiful desert scenery. Considering everything above, we would definitely stay in this home again!"

"Quaint, funky little house in the middle of the desert. Very rustic. It does not have all the amenities of fancier rentals (bring your own face and hand cloths plus dish towels) but it has unique artistic pieces that make it well worthwhile. The hot tub is wonderful and the outdoor gazebo area is very relaxing. Bedrooms do not have doors so if there are two couples privacy could be an issue. House sits a mile plus off the paved road so be prepared to drive over some bumpy roads very slowly to get there. Having a 4WD would be a plus. House is about 15 minutes from the Joshua Tree NP entrance gate. But that entrance can entail a long wait. We used the alternate 29 Palms entrance and there was never any wait. That gate is about 25 miles from the home."

"Adorable little place! I loved that property was fenced in for our little dog. The landscaping was amazing. Kitchen is small, bbq is huge! I really needed to get away from it all and with so much open space to explore privately, I didn’t want to leave at all once I got there for my 3 night stay. There is another, bigger house close by on the property, but it was vacant while we were there, so complete privacy. Hot tub is well maintained and I loved the propane fire pit. The place is full of light with lots of windows. One of the bedrooms does not have a door, just a curtain dividing it from the living room, but we didn’t mind that. But for anyone who is a fall risk beware the small step between the living area and bedroom. My friend tripped over that many times and I finally had to line up our coolers to block it off and ban him from going through there to the hot tub before he hurt himself. I would recommend this place if you are looking for peace and tranquility"
