The Columbia River Gorge, with its mountains and rivers, offers the vacationer and recreation enthusiast the opportunity to windsurf, mountain bike, kayak, golf, ski, hike, fish, or just relax in the unhurried pace of a natural paradise. Historic buildings line the beautifully scenic streets of downtown Hood River, with a bustling shopping district featuring boutiques, designer shops, outdoor adventure gear outfitters, antique shops, art galleries and no less than 30 restaurants.

There are many orchards and vineyards in Hood River. The Hood River Valley is known for its luscious apples, pears, cherries, peaches and other fruits, and for the view of the majestic snowcapped peak of Mt. Hood. People from all over Oregon make an annual trek in the fall to the many farm stands to stock up on fresh apples and pears. Other produce is available, and varies by season. The award-winning Hood River Vineyards is located on a hillside overlooking the Hood River Valley. Their tasting room features traditional wines, and fruit liqueurs.

The Columbia River Gorge, with its magnificent views make this a dream spot for a destination wedding.

Wind surfing capital of the world is Hood River's latest distinction. The winds from the Columbia River Gorge, best during the middle of the day, create ideal conditions for riding the waves. To enjoy the view of "boardheads" at play, drive to the Columbia Gorge Sailpark or follow Second Street to the waterfront.

The Mt. Hood region and its more than sixty miles of forested mountains, 77 waterfalls and myriad lakes and streams are a rip-roaring mecca for outdoor adventure. The mountain is home to four ski areas and offers the country's only year-round skiing and snowboarding.

Please note that the driveway to this home is steep and has turns, which can be challenging during the winter months. There is a flat area for parking at the bottom of the driveway. If you need to park at the bottom of the driveway, you will need to walk up to the home and conditions may be icy.

Please note, if you choose to book with this home, you will be receiving a separate rental agreement that will need to be electronically signed before your stay.

"Great location and good layout. The driveway is very tough to navigate if you have cars with bikes on the back and overall, the space seemed like it could use some sprucing up. Broken fireplace, stained carpets, threadbare towels, etc."

"We loved our stay here! Close enough to walk to the bars, restaurants & shops downtown but feels secluded at the same time. The house itself is huge & beautiful with lots of outdoor space (esp. loved the view from the roof deck) ! Driveway is a little tricky & steep (which wasn’t an issue in summer, especially if you’re comfortable backing up & don’t have large cars, but something to note for winter guests)."

"Great house and location! Views were spectacular. Only downside was the driveway. It was decently steep and required a sharp multi point turn to get to the garage. Other than the driveway I would recommend."

"The house was great, clean and as described in the listing. Kitchen was reasonably well appointed. Easy walk down to downtown Hood River. Unfortunately we had two bats in the home on the first night of our stay. One was in a bedroom, which resulted in those people having to sleep in the living room because we couldn’t get the bat to leave through a window. Then another bat appeared in the living room and smacked one of our group in the face. The management company was not particularly helpful in dealing with this situation. So bottom line, it was a great house except for the bats and lack of help from the management company."

"The house was great for our group of 7 women celebrating a friends 40th. Loved the location with trail access at the base of the driveway. The driveway is one of the steepest I’ve encountered, but wasn’t a problem for us. The view from the living room was awesome. Kitchen was stocked to meet our needs. It would have been nice to have an additional sleeping area on the top floor but we didn’t even end up using that area or the rooftop deck. The only suggestion would be blackout shades in the bedroom is always a nice option."

"Spectacular views, I would recommend driving a small vehicle, driveway is crazy, home is beautiful, could use coat hooks, towel hooks in bathrooms, followed instructions for fireplace but it wouldn’t light, some end/coffee tables would be nice to place a beverage on, kitchen was nicely equipped. We really enjoyed the walking path right at bottom of driveway. Home is in a great location for visiting the downtown."

"We booked our trip well in advance to stay at a different home. It snowed the day before and we were contacted by arrive and told that we could choose between two other homes because the one we had booked wouldn't be available with the snow in the drive apparently. The home we chose was a big modern home with lots of amenities and family friendly. The homes we were given the option of were small, outdated with less amenities and listed for cheaper then the home I booked. I then asked the person at arrive if we would be getting a discount then and she hesitantly said she would look into because I had just gotten a really good deal on the nicer home I booked. She called back and offered me a modern loft with many of the amenities the other home we booked had at the same price. We already had this trip planned with activities so I agreed. When we got there we found the home to be clean and beautiful but far from family friendly. It had four flights of stairs with terrifying railings for my toddler. There were only 3 locks that worked on the 5 exterior door home. There were passive aggressive notes on a few things that made it very unwelcoming my biggest issue is the thermostat was set at 50 degrees the note said it could only be turned up 2 degrees an hour or we would be charged the cost of repair if the unit froze and it reset everyday at a certain time so the house was always cold. My husband did of course misplace the key in the home and we were charged $129 for that which fine that was our fault however that seems a bit high for a single key when alot of the locks didn't work to begin with. More than half the snow was melted when we got there I think we should have been rented our original home or discounted more for the inconvenience. Overall not a fan of the company arrive the home is beautiful and clean for the right group not a good fit for a family trip with littles."

"Nice space for 5 adults. Peaceful newly installed grassy level side yard. Kitchen well appointed. Dining table great for group eating. Comfortable attractive living. Only disappointments were the house and decks don't face river, and outside and night noise constant from I-84 and Hwy 35 which runs diagonal up steep hill near house and has lots of big truck noise day and night. Also would not book this house in months where ice a possibility because of extremely steep driveway that would be unsafe to walk up even if parked below. There is a nice walking trail into town that starts at end of driveway. We had a good stay."

"The Hazel house was perfect for our needs. We were challenged by the steep driveway with our full sized vehicles, but practice makes perfect. There was plenty of space and common items available for our party. I would stay at the Hazel House again."

"We arrived at Hazel house and found it to be exactly what we saw online. We skied most days of our visit and my was easy to get to and convienant! Town and supply shopping was just a short trek to town (less than mile) Great ships in town makes for nice day and great Restarant's with very friendly servers! We hiked and enjoyed amenities of the house. Hot tub and ping pong table. We did puzzles provided in the house. Had wonderful time with extended family that lives in Dalles and Hood River. Would recommend this house and customer service was readily available!"

"This was an excellent house for our party of 8 over the New Years Holiday. The views are excellent and proximity to town and the mountain were great. The driveway is a bit "adventurous" but we were able to coordinate a large suv and truck for parking. Apple Maps will get you close but not quite, so you should just look for a small wooden out building with the address on it at the entrance to a public walking trail and then you'll know you've found the driveway. One review said they could not find it in the dark and I can see how that might be possible. Hot Tub on the roof is really cool as well. Overall a great stay for the family!"

"This is a fine rental for up to 8 people. The views in October towards Mt. Hood are gorgeous. Lots of space indoors for groups to hang out and the multiple porches and huge rooftop are terrific. The location is quiet, the house and furniture are clean, the HVAC is fine, appliances work, lots of the usual kitchen tools. Walking to downtown Hood River is by an easy road or a strenuous stairway. We parked a Prius and a 4Runner but two large vehicles would be a challenge."

"We really liked the house. The views were amazing. There were only a few things that caused us some concern. We did not arrive until late the first night. It was a cloudy rainy night and we could not see to get to the house so we stayed at the Hampton Inn. We drove up the first part of the driveway to the wall then looked right to see that the driveway continued to a sharp right going up but we could not see any further. The driveway really needs additional lighting. As I'm sure you know, the part of the driveway leading to the house and garage is very steep with extreme consequences if someone drives off of it. Also, the double doors in the master bedroom should be changed to solid doors since not everyone that rents shares a bedroom with a family member. The master bath had a glass shower so if someone showered no one else could be in the master bedroom. I hope this helps because I think these issues could be the cause of people not renting this property again and that would be sad because it is a beautiful home."
