Description

Primrose is a lovingly redecorated cottage that still maintains its 1940's charm. An easy two short-block walk from the center of Main Street and a half block from Hill & Vine restaurant, which offers great dining and entertainment, the location can't be beat. Plus, Fredericksburg's huge HEB store is only a five-minute walk, so visitors can come stay and never even use a car. An added bonus is that the huge back yard makes you feel like you aren't even in the heart of the city but rather in an oasis of fireflies, cooing doves and pecan trees.

The front bedroom boasts an impressive king-size bed with premium linens that will make you want to nestle in and stay! The back bedroom is decorated in cool hues of gray with an especially comfortable queen-size bed and private views of the lovely back yard. The den has many seating options, all of which are designed to be casual and comfortable, and maybe even nap-inducing. A large TV is on one wall of den, with free access to a wide array of channels. The kitchen is well-stocked with most anything you could need for a meal in-house, plus there is a charcoal grill in the yard if you decide to go that route.

Wifi is fast and free! A Bluetooth wireless speaker is available if you'd like to have a little music to go with your scenery. USB plugs are in most rooms of the house. Most guests especially enjoy the privacy and serenity of the expansive yard, with its outdoor seating areas. If you are seeking the convenience of an in-town, walkable location combined with the comforts of the great outdoors, you have found the right spot!

The homes does accept up to one dog but there is an additional fee of $27/night. Furthermore, please bring a crate for your dog and crate it in your absence from the house, do not allow the dog on furniture or beds, and pick up and properly dispose of its waste. If these rules are not followed, there will be an additional $200 charge added to your reservation.

"Last minute trip and arriving late at night and host was super accommodating. Cottage was in a great location close to downtown but in a very quiet neighborhood. I just wish I would've brought our dog - the fenced back yard was huge and he would've loved running through the grass (we live in the high desert with no grass). Very nice place."

"We didn’t get to spend much time in the house as we were really just passing through Fredericksburg on a longer road trip, but the location was great and it’s very cute. My only complaint is about the bed in the primary bedroom. The comforter was quite worn and discolored in places, and the bed itself was very squeaky. If you’re sharing it with someone, there’s no way to even turn over in your sleep without waking them you and them up with the noise."

"The house is super cute and enjoyed first night. The second night the AC quit working so slept in about 80 degrees. Pretty miserable. Got no sleep… if that hadn't happened would have been a great trip! So far have not gotten an offer for any kind of compensation back for that. Which I feel like we should."

"Small but cute and comfy house 2 blocks from shopping and restaurants. Wish the backyard had grass or fake grass so you can hang outside. Nothing but dirt and mud. House only had one tiny, tiny bathroom but works for one couple, anything more than that would be huge challenge. Kitchen had everything you needed if you planned to cook. We ate out every meal"

"This home is so charming! It was perfect for a weekend getaway. Beds were very comfortable and house had everything we needed. The huge backyard was great for our little dog and everything was in walking distance. The only thing would be to have instructions on how to use the Apple TV remote. Looking forward to returning!"

"The house was great. It was nicely furnished and in a great location, close to Main and very quiet. It was perfect for two people but would be cramped for more than two IMO. It is very compact and tight quarters. The only negative I have is that the TV has an Apple remote and unless you're familiar with it, can take a while to figure out. There is a book with instructions on the house, but the instruction page for the TV is mission. I stopped in Saturday morning to Gastehaus to inquire about the remote and they kindly offered to come out and show me how to use it. We weren't there much during business hours, so I never took them up on that. Yard was great for the dog."

"The Primrose house was an excellent accommodation. After initially finding out that airbnb failed to secure my rental, the staff at Gästehaus Schmidt scrambled and set us up at the Primrose. It was not as close to Main as the original choice, but close enough a short drive couldnt fix. The Primrose house was cute, quaint and stylish. My guests and I enjoyed our stay very much, and would definitely use your company again."

"We loved our stay at Primrose Cottage - what a special place! It is beautifully decorated, and has everything you could possibly need. We grilled every evening and enjoyed the backyard. The King-size bed is quite possibly the most comfortable bed ever. We had a wonderful experience overall and the staff was so gracious when we checked in; including many dining and gallery suggestions. Thank you!"

"Primrose house has a great location. Bedrooms are nice and very comfortable. The kitchen drawers could be simplified and needs to be organized and checked for needs such as a new can opener. IT was cold and rainy and we wanted to watch a Christmas DVD and there was no remote that worked the current TV. The lady on call was very nice and came over to try to help, but the Element TV did not have an Element remote... or something like that."

"Loved this little house, so cute and comfortable. Spent the weekend here with my husband, another friend and our golden retriever. Everyone enjoyed the house including the dog. Nice spacious backyard for the dog to run and chase squirrels. The nights were very comfortable with the temps dipping down into the 40s the central heat kept us nice and warm. We will rent this one again."
