Description

This is the place to be for a truly quiet, peaceful, away-from-it-all stay. This reconstructed log cabin is set in the middle of acres of beautifully kept fields. It has some trees around it -- and the nearest home is that of the hosts. A porch at the front has a swing to enjoy as you look over the fishing pond. A back porch covers the short walk (about 10 feet) to the small log cabin which is the bathroom. There is a wonderful antique footed tub (no shower) to provide a luxurious soak. (Heat & air, too!)

The restoration on this log cabin is outstanding with the logs exposed on the interior and exterior walls. The main cabin is a large room with living area and mini kitchen uniquely designed to compliment the antique furnishings. The fireplace is the focal point of the room and can be seen from the loft. Truly a romantic setting! A ladder-type stairway leads to the sleeping loft that holds a double bed and single bed with quilt coverlets and a large old trunk.

The Continental breakfast including pastries from local bakeries is left in your kitchen for you to enjoy whenever you wish. Sitting at the round table with morning coffee and pastries and gazing into the fire or looking out the window at the pond is a relaxing way to start the day. The living room has a queen bed. There is also an antique sofa and TV.

This cabin has been featured in the Hill Country VIEW magazine.

- Please be aware that the house charges an additional $16/extra guest after the first two in the party/night (before tax), so please let us know if the number of people in your group changes after you initially book the stay.

- Due to the rural location of the cabin, it does not offer internet or wifi.

- Please Note: You are renting a cabin in the Hill Country which means you may encounter wildlife (Snakes, Deer, Racoons, ETC). Please be aware of your surroundings, and take caution while driving at night. You may also encounter the various bugs, spiders, scorpions and mice that live in the country AND sometimes do make their way inside. All properties do utilize pest control services on a regular basis BUT this does not guarantee no pests or bugs will be visible.

"Place smelled, sheets smelled, can’t stand in bathroom if you are 6 ft tall. Firewood needs to be lit with a flame thrower to get wood burning. TV is a antique and screen is very small. Located in a cow pasture. The worst part was how dark it is you can’t read and I was hoping to read 2 books I brought. No view from cabin. We stayed about one hour and drove back home. So much for a nice weekend."

"It took me a while to save this money to make this reservation for this. I'm widowed and starting my life over from ground zero so with the stay of $451.22 plus the food and supplies needed and the round trip is 11 hours drive there and back. I had close to $1000.00 in this weekend trip. I drove 5.5 hour one way so excited and looking forward to this weekend, I arrived on Friday evening at 4pm. unloaded all the stuff out of my van and had to run to the walmart to pick up stuff I had forgotten and while i was there, J arrived at 5: 00 Pm and the owner dropped by to give him cookies for our stay he asked her if it would be ok if we checked out between 12: 00 and 12: 30 because most place check in and check out is 11: Oo am and she told him yes that would be ok since she did not have another booking booked. He said she was a very nice lady and he asked her, if she lived around there, she told him she live down the road close but did not tell him where down the road. That evening was a good evening and I rested well after the long drive. Saturday morning and afternoon was ok.. At approximately between 8pm/9pm Saturday evening there was a bad thunderstorm high winds and pouring down rain that took out the power, and left us without any use of the amities, no water, no way to cook so we wasn't able to cook a dinner that night or grill so we had no dinner that night, plus no restroom, No lights no electricity, No water. There was a lantern on the mantle of the fireplace but no wick in it, so it was of no use. I had brought a small candle for the dinner table so that was just a flicker and it didn't burn the full night. It was pitch dark, and it got very hot in the cabin. I tried contacting the owner several times @ 10: 25 pm three times right in a row, Then again @ 10: 27 pm again @10: 28 pm and 10: 29 pm and again @ 10: 46 pm each time the line was a busy signal. This was not a fun stay at all and the storm was too bad to leave to go drive into town to see if we could get a motel.. We had no dinner that night, no way to cook or grill outside because of the storm. J got too hot and set up all night to keep the door open to try to get a little breeze which was very little and not enough to cool the place and to make sure no snakes or small varmints came in. Morning came and still no power and no amenities and no way to cook a breakfast or no restroom to use. He was sick from not eating from low sugar and still could not contact the owner. We had to drive into town to eat breakfast to get his sugar line out. All the food I bought was not good. The tiny fridge got hot. We had to throw the food away. We left at noon and still had no Amenities. The worst stay ever in my life.. This was supposed to be a good time and it was horribly hot and miserable without any use of amenities or being able to eat. I finally got a hold of the owner on my 5.5 hour trip back home. she was rude and she had absolutely no care in the world at all and told me that this is country life for me to get used to it.. I am very well aware of country life. I farmed all my life...I told her I had called her many times and got a busy signal, she said that's because she had no electricity, but then she said she had a generator from when her husband passed away. I asked her if she had a generator for the cabin. At first she said she can't afford to have a generator at every house. I told her i'm surprised with that cabin being a rental for guest that there should be a generator for the guest so they would have all the use of the amenities and be able to stay cool. Then she told me she does have a generator, I said then why didn't you bring it to us, she said I should of called her so she could of had the power turned turned back on. I told her I did call many times and it was busy. I asked her if she had a cell phone. She said yes and I said you could have called us. Then she had the gall to tell me I should have come to her house and to get the generator, I had no clue where this lady lived and furthermore, we were her guests. She should have brought it to us. she said I could have asked at any house out there where she lived because all her family live there. Why would I drive from house to house to find her. Im her guest paying for a service that I didn't get. I told her how hot it was and how J had gotten to hot and all the food got hot and I had to through it away and it was way to bad out for us to take a chance to run into town and try to get a room and who knows there might not of even been one available, and, really I shouldn't have to pay more money out when I paid her for the use of her cabin to stay in, and it should of been fully equipped for our stay and all the amenities fully working for us. All she could do was tell me this is country life, that's the way it is in the country and this is nature and it's not her fault and I was not going to get a refund. I never one time said anything about a refund to her. But her horrible attitude and the way she could care less of what kind of night we had and how J got too hot and sick from not being able to eat really concerned me. We was very respectful of the owners little cabin we could of left her restroom overflowing in a mess like most people would of done but were not like that we waited till the next morning to go into town when we got or breakfast. To be honest Yes it is her fault she said she had a generator then it was her responsibility to make sure it was in place to accommodate her guest. I don't care how cute the cabin is. There are much better and nicer places to choose from with a hostess that has a caring heart for their guest and their business and that goes for the booking companies as well.. Staying with comfort, safety and the health of the guest should be important with priority.. But the money for the owner and the booking companies was more important than the health, safety and comfort of the guest. This was not a mini romantic weekend getaway, it was a tarsher-cation. I feel I should have gotten a refund in the amount of $451.22 due to the ignorance of the owner having a generator and not having it set up for situations like this for the guest stay. NEVER WILL I RECOMMEND THIS CABIN TO ANYONE EVER ! I would not want anyone to go through what we went through or be put at risk or harm. The Owner was at full fault and it's unacceptable and It is totally wrong anyway you look at it !"

"The Log Cabin was amazing. The wildlife and scenery was absolutely beautiful with deer in the fields, duck and baby ducklings on the pond, hummingbirds zooming around and gorgeous sunsets. The host was so sweet leaving pastries and delish homemade nut bread. Highly recommended The Log Cabin."

"The log cabin was perfect. Very peaceful with the cows and the deer grazing close by. Fresh fruit and pastries were delivered every day. I loved the layout on the cabin and wash house. The a/c in the cabin did not work very well so i went and bought a fan so everything was good. Will be going back for sure"

"This is our second time to stay here and it won't be our last. We love that we are in the middle of a cow pasture. The cabin is cozy and quaint. I love sitting on the porch that overlooks a pond while swinging and watching the deer or listening to the cows, moo. At night you can see the stars which you do not get to see when you live in the city. I love this place!"

"We had a great time! The directions were easy, and we didn’t really ever need to contact the host. (Who did leave pastries and fruit for us). It nice and quiet, and sleeping with the fireplace in a log cabin was most excellent. (Didn’t want to get out of bed) In the morning looked out the back window and watched ducks on the pond. (I guess I should’ve brought binoculars). Neat place, we would love to stay again sometime."

"This property is a beautiful cabin, secluded and quiet. Its beautifully maintained and furnished. Keep in mind that if you rent this cabin, you have to go outside to use the restroom or take shower as the "bathhouse" is a few steps from the fro t door. The walkway is covered tho So even when it rains you stay dry. The host brings fresh baked goods in the afternoon for breakfast the next morning. Everything is provided. There was, juice and 2 kinds of milk in the fridge, a Keurig and a selection of coffees and tea and hot chocolate, fresh fruit and a selection of cerial to choose from. We brought supplies and took them all home again as we did not need anything. The only thing that should be kept in mind, and is not in the listing, the cabin is situated within a pasture. Its fenced in, but where you park you, ther is cows roaming free. We had a great weekend."

"It was perfect! Couldn't ask for a better place! Exactly, no more than what I had hope for to help create the perfect get away! When we first arrived the only sounds to be heard were ours with the ooh's and awwww's of sheer wonderment, delight, and fascination of our cabin and surroundings. And the hosts with their selection of fresh pasteries... sheer heaven! We are already planning a return trip."

"Stayed at the Log Cabin last weekend. It was a lovely stay. The cabin was emmaculately clean and very comfortable. Deer greeted us in the morning and the pond brought in many beautiful whistling ducks and other wildlife. Tried fishing but moss made it hard. Still, loved the antique implements decorating the walls. Thought the bathroom situation would be an issue but it wasn’t and it was extremely comfortable! This place is adorable!"

"As always we had an incredible stay at The Log Cabin. The Itz family always makes our stay special and we look forward to staying every year. We were married and spent our honeymoon at The Log Cabin and have stayed every year on or around our anniversary except once (which was only due to icy road conditions). That was 31 years ago and we love it more every year. Thank you to the Itz family for a wonderful stay as always."
