Chessetts Lodge is a stunning custom-built house, with touches of luxury everywhere. Chessetts Lodge combines the rustic with the luxurious resulting in a truly remarkable home for your private mountain vacation.

You will be amazed from the second you drive up to this gorgeous villa. It is approached via a private road and is situated on its own grounds of some 14 acres, atop Pennsylvania Peak, just South of Alma and only 20 miles from Breckenridge. Surrounded by pine and aspen forests, there are spectacular views of the surrounding white-capped 14,000 ft. peaks, valleys, rivers, and lakes.

Stepping into the home you can see the care taken to create an atmosphere of relaxation and luxury. On the first level you walk into the game room with its custom full-size bar with ice maker, wine cooler, sink, and granite counter. Gather around on the bar stools and converse with the mixer of drinks or enjoy conversations going on in the room. You can play pool on the full-size pool table or sit around the large custom L-shaped couch with a big round coffee table to play games or place your drinks and snacks on. There is a flat screen television mounted over the gas fireplace for sports or movie night. This level has a custom indoor sauna to enjoy, along with a walk-in shower and thick custom cotton towels to finish the experience. There is a bedroom with two twin beds that have new Marriott Hotel pillows to rest your head on.

Following the custom wood stairs up to the main level you enter the heart of the home. There is a luxurious kitchen with granite countertops and custom cabinetry. All the appliances are of the highest quality and are stainless steel. You will have all of the amenities and cookware that you will need to prepare your meals. The kitchen has an island with bar stool seating so that you and your friends can cook and chat at the same time!

The great room has vaulted two story ceilings with floor to ceiling windows on all sides. It is fabulous and has stunning views of the mountains, the valley, and the surrounding forest. A large dining area that can seat ten people is here, with a fantastic view! There is a gas stove to keep the room extra cozy. The seating is leather and extremely comfortable with yet another coffee table for games and puzzles. There is also a small library with books and games for everyone. This open concept means everyone can enjoy some time together, while still having other spaces to have different activities going on in the home.

On the main level are two of the four bedrooms, one featuring a queen size bed with luxurious linens and king size Marriott pillows that cradle your tired body. The other room has a king bed with luxurious linens and pillows to relax and have a great night sleep. There are televisions in each of the rooms, with satellite programming. The bathroom has thick cotton towels for you to use with your shower or bath. There is a bathtub/shower combination on this level.

The third floor area has the master bedroom where the oversized king bed with luxurious bedding and Marriott pillows welcome you to a haven of your own. Here you have your own seating area with a small deck to enjoy the view. The attached private master bath has a custom tiled walk in shower, as well as a VibrAcoustic tub. The thick custom cotton towels give you an upscale luxury feel in the middle of the mountains. There is also a flat screen television with satellite programming to enjoy.

Adjoining the master suite there is also a large loft area with a minstrel's gallery looking onto the great room. This area has a queen size sleeper sofa providing additional accommodation if required. The reading area is also located in the loft so that you can see the stunning views from the big comfy fainting couch that is provided.
The outdoors is one of the most spectacular qualities of this home. You can hike to the top of Pennsylvania Peak right from the front door of the Lodge. There is a hot tub at Chessetts to relax in after a day of hiking or skiing. It is positioned to make the best of the amazing views! If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. It is a great place to call your "Base Camp".

This is a beautiful home to spend any season of the year. The access is year-round, because the driveways and roads are plowed, but AWD/4WD vehicles are essential, especially in winter. There can be deep drifts after a storm and it can become quite slippery if the snow melts and refreezes. Please have the proper equipment during the winter months.

* This home is located in the Central Rockies at approx. 11,100 ft. Please be advised that elevation and weather should be considered when deciding if this location is appropriate.
* Guests are required to have a four-wheel drive vehicle with adequate snow tires or chains during the winter months from November through May. The area is subject to frequent unpredictable and adverse weather conditions which can make travel difficult.
* This home is located in a rural high alpine mountain environment where wildlife, insects and rodents may be encountered. The home is also equipped with a well water system and may have variability in taste, smell or mineral content based on time of year and usage.
* Guests will be required to sign a vacation rental agreement after booking.
* Outdoor security camera(s) are in use at this property, and may be used to verify guest occupancy. Security camera(s) are solely for visual (no audio) monitoring outside the property and are not present inside the property.

We hiked almost everyday at the many trails around Fairplay and spent one afternoon just exploring the property. hosts were very responsive. Beds were very comfortable. "We had a fantastic time here, perfect location for snow. Plenty of room for our family and our friends. My only feedback would be to have an air fryer as cooking at altitude is much longer."

"Our week long family vacation stay at Chessetts Lodge was truly a luxury mountain cabin experience. The cabin with all of its amenities was just what we were looking for in our Rocky Mountain experience. It IS atop a mountain at 11,000 feet and we DID experience altitude sickness the first couple of days. We arrived on a Monday and never left the cabin till Sat. taking full advantage of all the space for our family of seven to stretch out, relax in hot tub or sauna, play pool, games or hike outside. The beds and pillows with their luxury sheet sets were AMAZING - giving us all GREAT nights of sleep. The kitchen was limited in its stock for us as we cooked a lot. We give this property and the management an excellent review most of all though, for giving us a great last minute booking and same day checking in service due to our other booked property having a water supply issue. THANKS so much you guys were TERRIFIC in serving us SO well."

The deck was also nice to hang out on for evening drinks and morning coffee. The management company was great at responding quickly. It was an easy drive to Breckenridge and into the town of Fairplay."

"Highly recommend this home for a beautiful mountain stay. We had 10 people in our group and everyone had their own space. The hot tub and sauna were a huge plus and the views from the hot tub at night cannot be duplicated. The property manager was easily accessible for a few questions we had during our stay. We will definitely be back to this amazing home. The gravel road to the home is about 4 miles with some parts being pretty rough but that isn’t the homeowners/property managers fault. Overall this is a beauty place with amazing views of wildlife."

"The listing for Chessett Lodge is very accurate; it's beautiful! We spent 9 days with our 5 adult children and 2 year old grandson. It allowed us enough space to all sit together and also allowed everyone a place to escape. The views are gorgeous, the house is well equipped. Word of warning, the house is at 11,000 feet; being flatlanders we were unaware of the many forms of elevation sickness."

"We chose Chessetts Lodge for our family vacation stay in Colorado and could not have chosen a better place to stay! The Lodge was equipped with everything our family needed for a carefree, comfortable stay! The lodge was incredibly roomy and cozy! We utilized the kitchen and grill while we were there, cooking family meals together! The quiet, open location was perfect for snow hikes and even sledding down the hills. The drive to town was short and beautiful! We even made our way to Breckinridge and the Frisco area during our stay with no problems at all! 10/10 would recommend booking Chessetts Lodge for your family Colorado stay! Comfortable beds. Cozy gas fireplaces. Tons of room. Beautiful location. What more could you ask for!?"

"This home was absolutely perfect. From the layout which promotes quality family time to the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the private grounds. A 4WD vehicle is needed to access, but if you have that - you are good to go. 25 minutes from all that Breckenridge offers, but outside of the hustle and bustle of the busier city. Some of our best memories were playing card games at the dining room table. You don't want to miss this place. We will be back!"

"For our 2 families, this house was the perfect size for the 8 of us. The adults loved the spacious living area with views to South Park and the surrounding mountains. The kids enjoyed the pool table and seclusion of the game room with its separate bedroom, TV and bathroom. The kitchen had everything we could ever think of, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. With all of the drives and hikes in the area, we could have stayed for another week and still not done everything we wanted. For those daunted by a hike up one of the nearby 14-ers of the Mosquito range, there is the PIka Trail right in the neighborhood, or drive over to the adjacent valley and the Kite Lake trailhead, and then take the short hike to Lake Emma. Or head south and drive up the Fourmile Creek road and hike to the abandon mines. So much to do and see, you don't even need to drive into Breckenridge. This house was exactly what we needed to unwind. Major kudos for having the hot tub ready to use on our arrival. We’ve stayed at far too many rental homes where the hot tub either doesn’t work or requires the renter to get it fired up and running. Fair warning: The house is at 11,000 feet elevation and if you aren't acclimated, you will feel it. Altitude sickness can ruin the first couple of days, so plan ahead! Many, many thanks for making this beautiful house available to us for our getaway!"

"The house was very nice. Beautiful windows to look out and see the wonderful scenery. We saw a moose which was cool. The elevation was rough. Went through quite a few oxygen bottles. My nine year old granddaughter had a really rough time. The master bed upstairs was great. Pillows, sheets, everything. My family enjoyed the pool table but the cue sticks need updated. We enjoyed the large dinner table so we could all eat together. The area was close to Copper Mountain and Breckenridge which we went to a few times."

The cabin had everything we needed and it was very clean and we felt at home. One of the mornings we sat in the hot tub then went into the sauna and it was a much needed relaxation that this cabin offers. In the mornings on the second floor you can watch the sunrise and in the evenings on the balcony on the third floor you can watch the beautiful sunset. We will definitely be back. ️"

"Had a wonderful Christmas week at the lodge. They kept the driveway plowed immediately after it snowed. We've stayed there before and will stay there again. Altitude took about a day to adjust to, but nothing to be done about that! A very nice touch was them having an already prepared Christmas tree in the main room. Was so grateful for that!"

"We had a great relaxing weekend here. We only had a group of 4, but could easily fit more! The basement bar area was great for hanging out. Master bedroom suite was gorgeous and the beds were comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed, except we couldn't find grill tools. The hot tub was perfect for startgazing at night. Only minor complaint would be it overlooks the driveway- would be nicer in the trees or with a better view. The house is very secluded, we didn't hear or see anyone else the whole time. It's only a short drive to fairplay for dinner or supplies. Overall absolutely loved it!"

Very good
"I want to start with the “bad” because literally everything else about the property was amazing. It is HIGH up. I feel like the elevation should be stated in the description because I could see it being an issue for less seasoned travelers. The top floor of the home is sitting at 11,086’. We all had altitude sickness and we were all doing everything we could to prevent it. However, we did all acclimate very quickly and it was grand. The lodge is secluded and gorgeous. The upstairs master has a really decent mattress. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the equipment we needed to cook and prepare meals. The hot tub was relaxing after a long day of hiking and fishing. We really enjoyed the house and really enjoyed the close proximity to breckenridge and the Royal Gorge. We would definitely stay here again!"
