Welcome to Appalachian Mountain Lodge!

Appalachian Mountain Lodge is a unique Adirondack-style lodge with over 8,000 square ft. of living and entertaining space. Featuring hardwood floors, tongue-in-groove ceilings, new furniture throughout, updated kitchens and bathrooms, new appliances, new amenities, and more, Appalachian Mountain Lodge is a fantastic option for your next family reunion, corporate retreat, wedding, or other planned and impromptu gatherings. Adjacent cottage rooms offer additional lodging options and can be added to your reservation a la carte.

Please note that there are other cottages on the grounds that are not part of our rental program. They have long-term tenants.

The main level offers a huge chef's kitchen, completely renovated with new floors, cabinets, counters, appliances. The main living room offers comfy seating situated around a huge wood-burning fireplace and HD Smart TV and looks out of a wall of windows that frame long-range mountain views. The adjacent dining room boasts a huge banquet table seating up to 14 guests and a custom live edge bar top along the long inner wall, which seats eight more. Include the three bar stool seats in the neighboring kitchen, and you can accommodate up to 25 guests. The Wormy Chestnut Library, also on the main level, is wrapped with hardwood. Wormy Chestnut built-in cabinets and shelving, vaulted tongue-in-groove ceilings and exposed beams, hardwood floors, and a gorgeous reclaimed wood mantle make this a warm and mature room to enjoy memorable vacation experiences. There is a Twin sleeping chair in the library which makes this another potential sleeping area when needed. The massive wood-burning fireplace makes for a great centerpiece, and the huge HD Smart TV provides yet another entertainment spot as if the other 14 Smart TVs spread throughout the lodge aren't enough!

There are a total of four bedrooms on the main level. The main level sleeping wing features a large King suite, "Secretariat Suite," with a private ensuite full bathroom, built-in desk, large HD Smart TV, and windows that look out to the front lawn and the mountain views. A second bedroom with two Queen beds, HD Smart TV, built-in desk, mountain views, and a third bedroom, "Ruffian Room," with a King bed and HD Smart TV, share a full hallway bathroom with tub and shower combo. There is another full bathroom central to the main level with a large tile shower and a water closet with a sink and toilet next to the Wormy Chestnut Library, making it convenient when using the library as a sleeping room. The fourth main-level bedroom, "Hank's Hacienda," is conveniently and centrally located between the main kitchen and the dining and living rooms. It has a double French-door entry making it ideal for anyone who is disabled or has mobility challenges. It has a door that leads directly out onto the rear patio and windows that look at mountain views. The dedicated handicap bathroom is just feet away from the kitchen. It features a cantilevered sink perfect for roll-up access, a taller toilet with handles for easy leverage, and a roll-in, step-in steam shower with a built-in seat. This is a guest favorite as the water temperature in the steam shower can be digitally adjusted!

Upstairs features the two primary suites. The "Wayne Manor" suite, the primary master suite, boasts over 600 square feet with a King bed, huge HD Smart TV, built-in desk, large sitting area with a loveseat, and a Queen sleeper sofa. The ensuite master bathroom has double vanity with custom tile sinks, a skylight, and a huge soaking tub and shower combo. The "Foolish Pleasure" suite is our secondary master suite with a King bed and a Twin sleeper chair. 'Preakness' also has a large HD Smart TV and a full ensuite bathroom with a tub and shower combo. The upstairs suites feature a wall of large windows that frame the best long-range mountain views available in the lodge.

Downstairs features a large den and game room with an eight-foot slate pool table, a 16-foot shuffleboard table, a foosball table, and a huge HD Smart TV for entertainment. The overstuffed comfy den furniture surrounds a massive brick hearth with a wood box and a wood-burning fireplace. The sofa opens up to provide a Queen sleeper bed. Next to the den is a second kitchen, fully-equipped with a sink, microwave, oven and cooktop, dishwasher, full fridge, and freezer. A three-seat bar top between the lower kitchen and den provides added dining and entertaining space. Down the hallway is the theater room with huge 100-inch projector HD TV and sound, with theater-style reclining seating and comfy bean bags for overflow, and a half bathroom, perfect for family movie-watching, gaming, and sporting events.

There are more bedrooms on the lower level. A Twin bedroom with a Twin trundle bed sleeps two and has another HD Smart TV. This bedroom has a Jack-and-Jill full bathroom with a shower, also accessible from the den. The second bedroom on the lower level is a suite with two Queen beds and a private ensuite full bathroom with tub and shower combo. There is an exterior door from this suite out to the rear courtyard and the hot tub. The rear courtyard features a gas grill and outdoor dining tables on a concrete pad under a covered roof.

The La Nonna suite is on the lower rear corner of the lodge, accessible only from an exterior entrance. This is a quiet and private suite with a King bed, large HD Smart TV, and a full bathroom with a huge tile shower. This is perfect for the couple with young children needing quiet daytime naps or for the mature member of your group needing a little extra space and privacy.

The grounds offer a large, level front lawn, set well off of the quiet residential road, making it a safe and fun place for children to play. The backyard is a rolling, landscaped lawn, perfect for children of all ages to play in, with nearby wooded trails for walking and exploring. The outdoor fire pit is between the lower rear courtyard and tennis court.

The level tree-lined driveway and front parking area offer plenty of parking. If you have a planned event, the staff will work with you to arrange off-site parking and shuttle service for day guests, depending on how many people you are hosting and how many vehicles need to be accommodated.

This lodge is handicap-friendly, has a dedicated level handicapped entry for both the main and lower levels, and offers wide thresholds into the house, the living/dining/kitchen areas, the mudroom, and the lower den and theater room, and the dedicated handicapped bathroom and bedroom.

"We had 25 adults and children attend my husband's birthday party weekend. The house had all the amenities we were looking for with great sunrise views. The home was well-appointed and we got information in advance of the items to supply ourselves. Communication was very helpful! We did have to clean grill, kitchen countertops, and around vent hood since these were not cleaned for our visit."

"Our time at Appalachian Mountain Lodge was simply magical. We shared our wedding here with our closest family and friends, the house and grounds were absolutely perfect for the occasion. We rented the adjacent Mountain Family Lodge too and our guests were all so comfortable with the accommodations. The luxurious master suite, fully equipped kitchen, basement complete with media room/games, and jacuzzi were highlights! The lawn out back was the location for our wedding reception and will always hold a special spot in our hears. The house host Riah was super helpful leading up to our stay and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend renting AML and MFL for your next vacation or gathering!"

"My friends and I stayed at Appalachian Mountain Lodge for our 4th annual group trip. We are a group of 11 adults and 10 children between 6 different family units. We finally found the perfect house for our large group! AML has enough bedrooms and bathrooms for all 6 households to have privacy. We loved the variety of living areas (library, cinema room, game area, dens, etc...) for us to spread out, relax, and play. The outdoor space is unmatched. Kitchen was very well-equipped. The kids loved watching the horses and running around on the tennis courts. Hot tub worked great. Dining room table was huge. Steam shower was definitely a nice bonus. Back patio tables were perfect for our size."

"Overall great spot to stay for a large group. Well laid out house at a good location. Overall was clean but could use a good deep clean in areas such as behind sofas. 1 complaint is that many of the beds are very uncomfortable. Some are good, some are bad enough that we had people switch to sofas and air mattresses over existing beds. Pullout sofa unusable as a bed. Overall loved it though and will go back if we can sort out the mattress situation. Kitchen was amazing. Enjoyed having a tennis court and move room."

"Well appointed home with a nice well equipped kitchen and large accommodating dining room that seats 14 comfortably. We used both the living room and library/den for gathering…. home was very clean…. only two issues…had to open a window in the library when we had a fire as the smoke alarm was very sensitive (yes, damper was open) and there was a lock on the hot tub we discovered too late to call for help. Sauna off kitchen was a plus and well utilized."

"I rented this cabin in June for a large family reunion, 24 people. This time I came back with five of my tennis friends for a weekend of playing tennis, watching the US Open in the cinema room, sitting around the campfire and of course hanging out in the kitchen as we prepared meals. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend. One initial glitch was that ESPN is not part of the Spectrum cable package. I did not realize that ahead of time but with the the help of Riah, we found a solution. Also the one bank of lights on the tennis court did not come on. This was a problem back in June as well, I'd suggest getting an electrician out to find the issue."

"From the very first inquiry, Carolina Cabin Rental was friendly and efficient in booking and managing our stay at Appalachian Mountain Lodge. The house (along with the cottages) was the perfect place to host our family reunion! The house has numerous spaces to gather and then also plenty of room to spread out. The view is incredible, and the other amenities at the house made it such that we were more than content to just hang out there. The kitchen is well-stocked. Our host Riah (working with CCR and the owner) was quick to attend to any needs we had. I would gladly recommend this home to others!"

"We had a great time at Appalachian Mountain Lodge this weekend. It is close to Boone so access to restaurants and stores is 10 minutes away. The house has so much to offer and for our group (14 people), there was something for everybody. House was tastefully decorated. We do a trip like this twice a year and a lot of times, houses this size have minor issues. Not with this house, every light bulb worked, every toilet flushed, all the heaters worked and so on. The theater room was incredible! We will definitely be returning to this home next year. A few other thoughts and suggestions: With a house this big, there was a very small coffee pot. We had to make 3 pots just so all 14 people could have enough coffee in the morning. The WIFI was relatively inconsistent downstairs. I ran my own CAT5 cable from the repeater to the theater room so we could watch a pay-per-view UFC event on an AppleTV that I brought. Running a separate network downstairs would be ideal. Also, the water pressure was generally pretty weak in most of the house. Other than that, the house is perfect."

"The Appalachian Mountain Lodge is a beautiful place to get together. The rooms are spacious. We were surprised, tho, with so many bathrooms, not all bedrooms had one and one didn't have a closet. --the location where it is built is perfect to watch the sunrise on the back deck with your morning coffee and watch the deer run through the back yard going to the apple tree. The numerous flowers attracted many butterflies. --the kids were busy at the tennis courts, in the game room with the pool table and other games to play. It was our 1st time with so many people. Many of us have rented homes before, so not totally new to the process. We would go back. Thank you for sharing it. There's hiking/walking areas not far which we used."

While our trip consisted of meeting with relatives and revisiting our roots, we found immeasurable activities within a 10 mile range which included Horseback riding, Kayaking, tubing, white water rafting, hiking, gem mining, picnics on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain. "We loved our stay at the Appalachian Mountain Lodge! It was the perfect place for our large multi-family group. The kids loved the game room and the movie room. The large dining room table was perfect for group meals. The kitchen had all of the essentials, making it easy for us to prepare meals. We also appreciated having the extra kitchen downstairs for extra fridge storage. The tennis court was in great condition for a couple of our star tennis players! We were happy with the cleanliness of the home and had all of the linens and towels we needed. The only downside was several bee stings due to the field of clovers in the backyard. The kids enjoying running around in the back yard and playing games, and several got stung because there were so many bees on the clovers. I'm not sure what to suggest to address that, but just something to be aware of. Separately from the house, I was so impressed with my interactions with the Carolina Cabin Rentals staff. I spoke mostly with Tim and Justin. From the moment I inquired about a rental and throughout our stay, the staff was always friendly and helpful. Overall, we LOVED our stay and our experience with Carolina Cabin Rentals! We hope to be back next year!"

"The Appalachian Mountain Lodge was great for my 40th celebration! Plenty of rooms & bathrooms! We loved the basement with all the games & kitchen area. The location is terrific, close to Boone & Blowing Rock. The size of home is wonderful. The home is older but has been remodeled in areas. There were a few small issues but all in all very nice. I think our biggest complaint was not being able to see the home in the dark. Most my guests arrived at dark & each one called asking if they had the right house? We used flashlights & cell phones to unload cars. Carolina Cabin Rentals was a pleasure to work with & Graham (he opened the house for us) was lovely! We had electrical & Internet problems but they were fixed immediately. We would definitely rent this home again for large functions, celebrations & would recommend to others I do think the price is high & arriving at dark was a struggle for our guests."

"We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay at AML from the minute we pulled down the driveway. The home and property were exactly what we were looking for in the mountains. With 8 kids (11-19 yr olds) and 11 adults, there was ample space that we weren't tripping over each other at all. The views are spectacular, and the amenities for such a large group were just right. CCR went over and above to address a heating issue on the evening before Thanksgiving AND on Thanksgiving Day as well. They even had a TON of firewood delivered, and started the fires for us! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect home and location to spend this time with our families. We will definitely be back!"

The kitchen was very well appointed with appropriate cookware, dishes and utensils. We used the grill on two occasions and it worked very well. There was plenty of space for our group to visit over meals and on the porch overlooking the yard and trees. The kids and parents enjoyed the tennis courts, pool table, hockey and bean bag games. The property was clean and well maintained. Wifi worked well, and we enjoyed a few DVDs in the movie room. The weather also cooperated beautifully, and we opened the windows to enjoy plenty of fresh air. Numerous ceiling fans contributed to the refreshing airy feel. We hope to book this facility again in the future when we return to the area. Highly recommended."
