Description

Welcome to Trailhead Cabin!

Trailhead Cabin is a comfortable log home between Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. It is close to Hound Ears Club, Chetola Resort, Foscoe, Seven Devils, and Valle Crucis. As the name implies, the cabin is near the trailhead leading to Hebron Rock Colony, a popular hiking destination with waterfalls, swimming holes., freshwater fishing, and fly fishing. One of the most popular summer activities around Boone is to take advantage of area hiking trails and swimming holes. There are over 70 freshwater swimming holes around North Carolina, and we are fortunate that many are right here in the High Country. Locals, Appalachian State University Students, and tourists love to find these natural water parks, but locating one can be tricky. If you stay at the Trailhead Cabin, you won't even have to get in the car to access one of the most desired hiking trails in the High Country.

The main floor and loft have the rustic ambiance of an authentic log home. The main floor has a queen bedroom. Upstairs is a large master bedroom with a king bed and a sitting area in the loft. The lower level has two twin beds and a playroom with a game table.

Allows pets with an additional fee paid after booking. The fee is $35 per pet per day.

*The privacy you can enjoy at Trailhead Cabin is accessed via a two (2) mile, state-maintained gravel road. After heavy rains, the driveway can develop ruts, requiring careful, skillful driving if your vehicle has low clearance. We recommend vehicles with higher clearance. During winter weather, snow plowing is as best as can be expected on a steep gravel driveway with ruts. A 4-wheel drive is required to negotiate the driveway during winter weather.

"We enjoyed our very relaxed time in Trailhead Cabin. Lots of room for our family of 4. Great location. We didn't have snow so probably could have gotten away without the 4 wheel drive, but the driveway is super steep, any ice or snow would have been tough."

"Cabin was nice could have used a little cleaning lots of spider webs with spiders in the web. Dead bugs in corners and edges of rooms. Down stairs basement had very musty odor and sour smell in the laundry area. I understand that these cabins stay closed up but should be cleaned throughly on a periodic basis. It does give me pause about recommending or staying with your agency in the future."

"This was our second time at this property. We enjoy the remoteness of Trailhead. Trailhead fits most of our needs as we enjoy the rustic feel. The property does however need some updates and general maintenance, including the steps to the front porch, lighting, HVAC and driveway. Thanks."

"My family enjoyed our week at Trailhead Cabin The pictures were very accurate and so it was a rustic country home. There are tons of steps so that is something to consider. Our dogs and my grandson really enjoyed the very large lot to run on. We barbecued one evening and built a fire in the fire pit one another night to make s’mores. Thanksgiving was saved by Tommy as the stove wasn’t working properly when we arrived so he ordered the part and installed it at 7: 30 the night before Thanksgiving. We spent a lot of time at the house because of the extreme cold that week (we are from Florida) have to say once we figured out how to use the heat properly and cuddled up with the extra blankets we were toasty warm."

"We really enjoyed our recent one week stay at the Trailhead Cabin. The upstairs master and additional bedroom on the main level were perfect for our needs as our daughter and her husband joined us for the las weekend of our stay. I would definitely not recommend using the bunk beds on the basement as it has a very strong musty smell. Also, I can't imagine kids feeling comfortable sleeping down there. There was a prevalence of lady bugs in the cabin and I also killed a couple of crickets but that did not bother us. The highlight for us was the location of the cabin. It was a short 4 mile drive to Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Boone was about the same distance in the other direction. It is also very close to Mast General Store and Grandfather Vineyards. The gravel road leading to the cabin is fairly level with not much traffic so it was worked well for walking our dog. Also, Hebron Falls loop trail trailhead is just around the bend from the cabin, another great perk. We would definitely stay here again."

"Very nice, secluded, and peaceful. Comfortable cabin. It did have ladybugs, but we found them charming. The only real drawback was with the spotty WiFi, but it's a mountain retreat. It's an excellent place for those who want to get away."

"I was not very pleased with the layout overall and the quality/condition of things. Screens torn so we couldn't open windows for air, dead bugs were everywhere. The foosball table was warped because of moisture and the kids couldn't play. "

"Overall it was a nice place to stay, gave us exactly what we needed. Close to so many attractions including Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Grand Father Mountain and Linville Gorge. Our dog enjoyed running around the big yard and there was a trail within a quick walk from the cabin. Could use some simple touch ups like labeling light switches and making sure the outdoor flood lights work. Wish we could have stayed longer."

"Felt it was dirty. Cobwebs from the chandler in the kitchen. Dead snake in the rodent trap, live snake in the living room. Broken window screens, finger prints all over the micro wave. Crude of some kind on the oven drawer which was open and plain sight to see when we walked in. Very musty smelling in the basement bedroom. Broken windows that wouldn't stay open and could injure a child if they were to open them. Layout and location was great. Just needs a little Tlc And deep cleaning."

"We rented the Trailhead Cabin for a long June weekend to enjoy some hiking and to visit my daughter who is attending summer classes at App State. The cabin is in a nice location and offered a private, wooded setting and included some lawn space for our dog to run around. The beds were comfortable but I would have liked a blanket. The cabin could use some updating which is really only cosmetic. The lighting in the cabin is terrible. Please add lighting with lighter colored lamp shades, and change the old CFL bulbs with brighter LEDs in every light fixture. Reading a book in the cabin was problematic due to how dark it was. (Also, the fooseball table is broken and should be removed from the property; and the downstairs bedroom with the bunk beds was a little creepy.) "

"Good stay. Cabin was clean, with the exception of a few bugs. Couches in main living area were very worn out and looked dirty. I bought blankets at wal mart to cover them for our stay. More towels and wash cloths need to be provided. With only 1 per guest, multiple night stays are an issue. I did not see a washer or dryer at the property so what are guests to do? For $200 a night, guests shouldnt have to bring towels and washcloths for a stay. Very poor channel selection for dish network. Couldnt even find local channels like CBS.
Friendly team"
