Welcome to 1 Kingfisher!

Escape to the Blue Ridge Mountains at 1 Kingfisher, an elegantly appointed three (3) bedroom cabin that accommodates nine (9) people, has three (3) separate living areas, and sits amidst mature native pine trees. Kingfisher, centrally located between Blowing Rock and Boone, is convenient to many High Country attractions, including Tweetsie Railroad, Appalachian Ski Mountain, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, Beech Mountain Ski Resort, Hawksnest, Moses Cone Estate Park, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The great room boasts soaring, vaulted tongue-and-groove pine ceilings, wood floors, an HDTV, and an impressive stone wood-burning fireplace. Dining is open to the great room and kitchen, seating six guests comfortably. The kitchen is well-equipped and features granite countertops and stainless appliances. The main level master suite offers a custom log king-sized bed, an HDTV, and private access to the deck. The ensuite master bathroom features a double vanity, jacuzzi tub, and a tiled walk-in shower.

Upstairs is the loft area overlooking the great room and the dining room. The loft offers a second 4-seat table for extra dining space or puzzles, games, chess, or checkers. There is also a fun tee-pee for the children. Off of the loft sitting area is a full bathroom with a combination tub and shower and two more bedrooms with custom log furniture, one featuring a queen bed, while the other has a twin-over-full bunk bed.

The downstairs den/media room has ample, comfy seating and an HDTV to watch the game or enjoy a movie, a queen-size sleeper sofa for extra accommodations, a third full bathroom with a combination tub/shower, and a laundry room. A covered deck with a hot tub is off the den with steps down from the lower deck leading to a stone courtyard with a fire pit.

"I loved staying here. We stayed here to ski with our family. The Appalachian ski slopes were so close. The kids had a great time learning how to shuffle board. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you need to cook with. The house was well stocked with linens as well. Hot tub worked well and was very clean. Cleanliness was 10/10! I was amazed at how clean it was. I would definitely stay here again!"

"Cannot say enough great things about our stay. From the moment we walked in we were very happy with our choice. The cabin was very well cleaned, good condition, and was stocked with everything we might need to start our trip. The setup of the house is perfect as well for a family and we enjoyed afternoons in the hot tub after hikes. Then hanging by the fire at night. The location is also perfect in to town and for nearby hikes. The rental company also did an excellent job with communication about our stay."

"Fantastic location! Easy to get to and the driveway was not too steep. You're right between Blowing Rock & Boone so you have plenty of restaurants and shopping to choose from. Only minutes away from Tweetsie Railroad and Mystery Hill. Great park for the kids to play in downtown Blowing Rock. 30 minutes to Grandfather Mountain! Large 3 story cabin with plenty of places to sleep and enough bathrooms. Kitchen was well equipped. Great Mountain cabin."

The home was very well stocked and was also a good location being just 10 minutes from the town area with Publix, Walmart, Starbucks, etc. 10 minutes from the Appalachian ski area and a little over 30 minutes from Sugar Mountain. All the bathrooms had liquid hand soap dispensers which is rare in rentals. There were plenty of towels including several for the hot tub (even though we didn't use the hot tub). Nice hanging storage in the closets helped make up for the limited bedroom furniture. Beds were comfortable. House was easy to access and very close to Blowing Rock. Nice garage access too."

"The cabin was very clean( the cleanest we have rented so far) and did not have an over abundance of decorations which was perfect so we didn't have to worry about our kids breaking knickknacks. There was plenty of dishes and cookware for a family of six. We were worried about privacy because we didn't see blinds in the main family rooms in the photos but there were blinds for each window. Despite the “eventful” start, Carolina Cabin Rentals handled everything the same day and were always respectful. The only thing that I would like to see improved would be a second garbage can because despite how hard we tried one can was not enough for a family of six that always cooked at the house. Otherwise we loved this place and are planning on coming back!"

"We had a great three-week stay in this cabin. We arrived to a very clean home with some great amenities - hot tub, fireplace, and roku (it was so wonderful being able to watch Joe Biden win the election live!). The beds/baths were terrific, and our son enjoyed rolling around in the comfortable family room in the basement. The area is great, too. You're surrounded by trees, lots of nearby hiking, and you can have so many quiet walks in the neighborhood up the hill. The management company was very responsive, especially when the dryer broke. Really nice folks. The only tip I'd have for future guests - the kitchen has the basics, but quantity/quality of dishware/pots and pans, cutlery, etc. is low so if you plan to do some cooking or have many mouths to feed you'll want to bring some of your own kitchen supplies. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to our return!"

"The pictures are true to the cabin. Beautiful and spacious and clean! Some reviews that we read prior to arriving or that there were not enough kitchen appliances or adequate pot and pan sizes. We did not find this to be true. There was one of every size and plenty of cooking utensils. The kids absolutely loved the Rec room on the second floor. No yard to run around in but the fire pit area and hot tub makes up for that. Considerations: they will only collect one bag of garbage for your entire stay. You would have to go to the nearby dump if you have more than one garbage bag. We only stayed two nights so thankfully this was not an issue for us but I can imagine if we were there for longer it would be. No one particularly wants to take a ride to the dump on a vacation. I do feel that the housekeeping service can be slightly improved as there seem to be a couple of closets with rolled up blankets/comforters on the floor. This made me believe they were not clean. The washer and dryer in the unit was very necessary as housekeeping does not replenish towels. As they state in the reservation details, There are not a lot of supplies such as dishwashing detergent, toilet paper, tissues etc. but certainly enough to get you through a day or two. The outside decks were also not very clean, but we did arrive during rainy days so I can imagine that is why the outside was not touched up. The AC unit was difficult to control (nest) and was set up at 76- 80 degrees (which resets every couple hours) which is uncomfortable in the summer season (especially upstairs). The Internet is extremely slow and we had to unplug and reset an order to get it to work at all. Overall the cabin was very beautiful, great furniture and added decoration touches made this a beautiful place to stay. Even with those issues, we would stay again. I can only imagine this would be so beautiful in the winter time with the great room with real log fireplace. I gave 4 stars just due to the issues above which are not a reflection of the cabin itself rather the maintenance co. Small changes could make this 5 stars."

"This is a beautiful home! Very clean and updated. The only complaint I have is that there were no large pots in the kitchen. There were only a couple of very small pots, and we were planning a pasta dinner for eight people. There were plenty of frying pans just not pots. Other than that the kitchen was very well stocked. The beds were very comfortable. Just be aware that 2 of the sleeping spots are on a sofa bed. The kitchen has 3 counter stools in addition to the table for 6, so 9 could eat in the kitchen. The living room could use some more seating. Only has a couch and one chair. We really enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit. The shuffleboard table was a nice addition to have too. There was an empty 2 car garage, so we were able to put a car in there and have room to park three on the driveway. The location was good. About a 15 minute easy drive to Boone, and only eight minutes to downtown Blowing Rock. All things considered this is a beautiful place and we really enjoyed our stay! We were also very pleased with Carolina Cabin Rentals. Very easy to deal with and quick to respond to any questions that we had!"

"This cabin is closely centralized between Blowing Rock and the town of Boone. Very conveniently located just off of a main road. The wood on the entire interior is Gorgeous! Hot tub provides a way to distress, further relax. Ample space for plenty of family to be together. A listing of information would be helpful..such as where the switch to the outside spotlight at parking is..as would more chairs on the grill deck be useful. The only other item I would have liked to have had is a step/ stool to get up on the beds. My 86 year old Mother was with us Loved the home! And Location."

"We enjoyed our time at the Kingfisher! Spacious, clean and relaxing! The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire pit while roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. The hot tub was very inviting after walking around at Tweetsie railroad all day. We were close to everything in town but still had the mountain privacy feel. The only thing that I would change is building a walk way into the cabin. The rock steps were a little slick when it rained. And some of the shrubbery by the entryway needed to be trimmed back. We had a wonderful time and I have already recommended this cabin to friends."

"Loved the house! Very clean and comfortable. AC balance on the different leaves a little to be desired but it is manageable. The only down sides are the super slow internet speed (reminiscent of dial-up), the lack of rocking chairs on the porch to enjoy the beautiful views and a privacy screen for the hot tub. It would be nice to have a few pieces of wood for the fire pit."

"The cabin was very nicely furnished and we enjoyed our time there. The kitchen does need a few more things added to accommodate families with children and those who plan on cooking most of their trip; examples would be more than 1 spatula, kids plastic plates and cups, and some Tupperware or cheap leftover containers. The hot tub did not have privacy from the other house right beside it, I would recommend lattice or a screen of some kind for future guests. I also would recommend a few blinds and rocking chairs on the front of the house because of the volume of cars going up the street parallel with the front of the house. We did have to empty the trash can to the dump at least once during our stay. It was a small can for a week long stay. These are just small petty things that we noticed during our stay though. The real stars of our trip were the employees and management team of Carolina Cabin rental. Andrew, Clarence, the housekeeping manager (Did not catch her name) and Anna were all exceptional to us during our stay. They were quick to resolve an issue and very nice to deal with. The main reason I gave the cabin 5 stars were because of them. Otherwise it would have been a 4 star review.

Thank you for these suggestions. We are informing the owner to take these ideas under consideration. --MGT"

"We loved staying at the Kingfisher. The house is beautiful and well appointed. We had a wonderful fire in the fire place on two evenings, and enjoyed the shuffleboard table. The hot tub is wonderful! We were relieved that there wasn't anyone staying in the house next door, but we brought an old sheet and some string to hang it, to block the view while we were in the hot tub. Perhaps the addition of a bamboo shade or something for guests to pull down while their using the hot tub would be something to consider. We loved the shower and the jacuzzi tub.
We only interacted via email, but they were always prompt and friendly. Very easy to work with. The process of renting is easy."

"The cabin itself was beautiful. It was nice and clean. However, we did have difficulty finding it. If there was a road sign it would have made things easier. We did not realize there would be a cabin so close to ours. The land (phone) line wasn't working and our cell phones did not work inside the cabin. I had to stand in the driveway, in the pouring rain, to make phone calls to notify the rental agency of the issue. This proved to be frustrating that we could not even make calls to the agency using the land line. Even though the agency could not resolve our issues during our stay, any phone calls made to the agency were handled with courtesy and professionalism. (THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING. THE PHONE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED AND IS NO LONGER A PROBLEM---MGT).
