Welcome to Red Bear Run!

Red Bear Run is a charming, well-outfitted home with six (6) bedrooms and four (4) full bathrooms on three levels. Each level has a living area, including a great room on the main level, a huge den and game room with a bar/kitchenette downstairs, and a quiet sitting room upstairs. Two large rear decks offer outdoor dining and relaxation, and both decks enjoy mountain views and a nice view of the Buckeye Lake and Recreation Center. The recreation center at Buckeye Lake is a place the whole family will enjoy, with indoor and outdoor sports like basketball, tennis, pickleball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, softball, climbing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and much more! A small daily fee gets you full access. Search BUCKEYE LAKE AND RECREATION CENTER for more information. Only three (3) miles away is Beech Mountain Ski Resort, where you can ski, snowboard, ice skate, snowboard, ice skate, snow tube, sled, and more. There are also numerous restaurants and shops on Beech Mountain to be explored and enjoyed. Downtown Banner Elk is at the foot of Beech Mountain, seven (7) miles away.

The main level of Red Bear Run boasts an open-concept great room, kitchen, and dining area. The great room features a convenient central place for guests to gather and relax on comfortable furniture. The kitchen is open and well-equipped to prepare and serve large groups meals. The adjacent dining table expands to seat up to ten (10) guests, and the center island bartop in the kitchen seats six (6) more. Up to sixteen (16) guests can dine together on the main level, and there is another dining table downstairs and on the rear deck.

The master suite is on the main level and has a king-size bed, a large HD Smart TV, a walk-in closet, and an ensuite bathroom with a large soaking tub, separate shower, and double sink vanity. A second full bathroom in the hallway serves two more queen bedrooms on the main floor. Each has an HD Smart TV and a walk-in closet. One of the bedrooms enjoys mountain views.

Upstairs are two more huge bedrooms flanking a central sitting area with a sofa and a full bathroom with a combination tub and shower. One features a queen bed and an HD Smart TV. The other is a bunk room with two twin-over-twin bunk beds, an HD Smart TV, and a walk-in closet. All these rooms enjoy mountain views.

Downstairs is an open den and game room with a pool table, an HD Smart TV, sofa and chair/ottoman, and a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and Keurig machine, as well as a four-seat table and chairs for dining and playing games. A generous full bathroom with a combination tub and shower and a king bedroom with an HD Smart TV mountain views complete this floor.

There is an open-air deck on the main level rear spanning the length of the house. It has a gas grill and an outdoor dining table that seats six, more seating, and a wood-burning fire bowl. The lower rear deck is covered, spans the length of the house, and has even more seating. Both decks offer mountain views and look down at the nearby Buckeye Lake and Recreation Center.

Red Bear Run offers wireless internet and seven HD Smart TVs with live programming and numerous additional programming options. There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer and a utility sink on the main level. The house has central heating and air conditioning for year-round comfort, currently on the main and lower levels. The upstairs does not have central air conditioning but does have a floor-unit air conditioner set up for the summer months and ceiling fans in both bedrooms. Dogs are allowed at Red Bear Run with an additional fee paid after booking. The fee is $35 per pet per day.

"The house was lovely and just as it is described on the website. The view was beautiful, as were the hiking trails. We saw bears, skunks and deer from the deck. The hot tub and billiards table were a big hit!"

"The house was very comfortable for adults and children. View was fantastic location was great. On way down to firepit is treacherous. The ground down to and around firepit needs grading. This is imp because the children want to roast marshmellows for smores"

"This house was perfect for our party of 8. Plenty of room. Plenty of deck. Plenty of fun! We really enjoyed the privacy and scenery. We would definitely book this house again. Only thing we didn't appreciate was the lack of toilet paper, but maybe we couldn't locate the extra. Thanks! Ps. What is the pipe for in the back yard?!"

"This was the first time our family had been together in about five years. It was a total surprise for my husband‘s 60th birthday! I when we arrived at the house, it exceeded all of our expectations. The house is tastefully decorated and easily accommodated our entire group. It made it super easy for our family to have all separate sleeping quarters with three of those having their own private bath. It's proximity it makes it super easy to get to Beech Mountain for an awesome day of skiing or tubing or simply hanging out people watching! Because we had a group so large, staying in for most of my our meals was easy because the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need to prepare a meal for a big crowd. The downstairs pool table and big screen TV provided many hours of entertainment for the whole family. The two large decks off of the main living area and the downstairs area provided panoramic views of the snow dusted mountains. I would suggest bundling up and enjoying a steaming hot cup of coffee or cocoa while admiring the view. There was only one small issue we had regarding the amount of hot water available for showers. I contacted the management group and within a couple of hours they had a maintenance guy out there too check on the problem. He explain to us the issue and made some adjustments to make a temporary fix. And I believe through correspondence with the management group the issue will be resolved permanently. I would definitely use Red Bear Run for another family vacation! You will not be disappointed!"

"I highly recommend this cabin - the owners are friendly and accommodating, the house is recently renovated and has fantastic spaces for kids. We loved the pool table, feeding deer from the back deck, and the quiet/beautiful location. We also enjoyed the proximity to the Buckeye recreation center - our group enjoyed the amenities and the hike to the falls. It is a 40 minute drive to Boone on some pretty windy roads, so be sure to watch out for deer. Overall fantastic stay at a beautiful location."

"The house was great! We actually saw a bear and lots of deer. There was plenty of room to spread out and everything was very clean. We would love to stay here again. I would suggest providing more towels. Not every bedroom had them. Also, more seating on the porch would be great. It has a beautiful view and we loved spending time on the back deck. Overall, it is a wonderful house!"

"The house was absolutely lovely. It was spacious enough for 2 large families to have plenty of room. The ping pong table was a bit hit. More balls should be provided. If you are visiting, it can't hurt to bring a few of your own. The house is way up on a mountain, which meant that most of us did not have cellphone service, until we connected through wifi. It was very peaceful not to have all those calls! If you want a peaceful vacation away from humanity, this is the perfect place. Large balconies with a fabulous view are perfect for sitting and chatting, or just being by yourself. The only downside was that if you want to go anywhere, it takes 1/2 hour of twisty mountain driving just to get to the main road! Also, you have the house and the balconies, and that's all. There is nowhere to roller blade or play ball. The backyard looks like it is not meant to be accessible, and in front, there is a gravel rectangle to park your cars (they say 4) about 15 feet deep, and then you are on the gravel road. All in all, I would highly recommend if you plan on spending most of your time in the house. One more thing, there was TV, but not really much to see on them. I guess cable doesn't work in the mountains..."

"We found this cabin almost by accident online and are so glad we did. It was a very relaxing place to come home to each evening after spending seven summer days hiking, swimming and taking in all that Beech Mountain and the area has to offer. It is very well equipped in the kitchen and the furniture is new, modern and comfortable. It is near the Beech Mountain Club and is reasonably close to restaurants and activities with maybe a twenty minute drive into Banner Elk and easy access to Boone and Blowing Rock. At 3600 feet high, mornings and evenings were cool and it was pleasant to sit outside while kids watched TV downstairs in the tv room/den. The summer view is very nice but when the trees lose their leaves, it likely is even better. We have two things on our wishlist for the cabin—some outdoor seating a little more comfortable than the chairs for the outdoor table and a hairdryer. Other than that, we love the place and would be more than happy to come back. Carolina Cabin Rentals has impeccable customer service and their communication was timely, proactive and informative. We are already looking at 2021 for a return trip."

"Our stay at Red Bear Run was perfect for our family. Lots of room for everyone to spread out! Comfy beds. Many chances to see and experience wild life- bears, birds, deer, etc.. Our favorite feature was the location away from everyone, but surrounded by great trails which were all walking distance, as well as the Buckeye Rec Center. The Falls Trail at Buckeye is the best! Thanks for a great time!"
