Description

Welcome to Villa Costalotta!

Villa Costalotta, a beautiful, expansive, upscale, three-level, five-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom house, sits on nearly five rolling acres in the exclusive gated Tynecastle community. Tynecastle is conveniently located between Boone and Banner Elk and is only five minutes from Sugar Mountain Resort and 10 minutes from Grandfather Mountain. Great restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping, as well as fishing and hiking, are within a couple of miles of this fantastic home. The towns of Boone and Blowing Rock are both 15 miles away, and downtown Banner Elk is less than 5 miles. The village of Valle Crucis, with its incredible riverfront park and the historic Mast General Store, is 12 miles away. Appalachian State University is only 15 miles distant. Ski Beech is less than 10 miles off. Appalachian Ski Mountain is 21 miles distant, and Tweetsie Railroad is 17 miles.

The views from Villa Costalotta are stunning! Enjoy expansive mountain views from the living areas, four bedrooms, and huge rear decks. The profile views of Grandfather Mountain are arguably some of the best than from any other property we manage. The five-acre property boasts both manicured yard space, safe for children to enjoy, as well as plenty of mature hardwoods creating a buffer of privacy from neighboring homes.
*Allows pets with an additional fee paid after booking. The fee is $35 per pet per day.

The house has three levels with a large covered front porch at the main entrance. The main level features a central great room with soaring vaulted ceilings, wood floors, a spectacular river rock wood-burning fireplace, designer furniture, and a large HD Smart TV. A three-story wall of windows and glass doors in the great room allows natural sunlight in, framing the priceless mountain views. The adjacent dining room boasts a one-of-a-kind, custom-crafted, live-edge, banquet-style dining table that comfortably seats up to fourteen (14) guests. The large kitchen features granite countertops, custom cabinetry, and high-end appliances. There are barstool seats at the kitchen bar and window seating for four more at the custom live-edge breakfast table. The laundry room features a washer and dryer and doubles as a mudroom with a separate entrance from the front porch. There is a half bath/powder room on the main level.

The impressive master suite on the main floor features a spacious bedroom with a king bed, a gas log fireplace, a comfortable seating area, an HD Smart TV, and glass doors leading to the rear deck and revealing the view. The ensuite bathroom has a vanity with double sinks, a makeup area, a jetted Jacuzzi-style soaking tub with a spa-like tile surround, a custom tile shower, a walk-in closet, and a water closet with a bidet and toilet - a master suite suitable for the most discerning vacationers!

The upper floor features a nice loft with a desk and a checkers/chess setup, offering a space to both work and play. A second king bedroom suite has a walk-in closet, HD Smart TV, and a full ensuite bathroom with a tub and shower combo. On either end of the top floor are two more large bedrooms, each of which has a queen bed and an HD Smart TV, and windows with nice views. One of the two also has a full-sized floor mattress for additional sleeping options. There is a full bathroom across from the loft and between the two queen bedrooms. An open balcony looks down into the great room and out to Grandfather Mountain.

The lower level begins with a cozy alcove room at the foot of the stairs featuring a custom log bunk bed with two Twin XL beds and open floor space perfect for children to spread out their toys and play. There is another Queen bedroom on the lower level, with an HD Smart TV and glass doors that open onto the lower deck and look out at the mountain views. There is a central bathroom with a tub and shower combo on the lower level. The majority of the lower level encompasses the family room and game room, with an eight-foot slate pool table, dartboard, foosball table, air hockey table, and shuffleboard table. The family room/game room also features a stone fireplace with gas logs, a large HD Smart TV, a comfy sofa, and glass doors opening to the large lower rear deck. The attached two-car garage is accessible from the lower level.

Both rear decks stretch the length of the house, are covered with an open-air extension on the main level, and have good views. The main level features a gas grill, an outdoor dining area, a comfortable outdoor sectional sofa, and a coffee table that doubles as a propane gas fire feature. The lower-level rear deck features a cornhole game, more deck furniture, and a hot tub installed in the spring of 2021. The front porch is a quiet, peaceful spot with rocking chairs where you can enjoy a morning coffee, read a book, and enjoy the undisturbed mature hardwood forests which make up most of the Tynecastle community.

Zoned central heating makes the house comfortable during colder weather, and a new central air conditioning system added in 2021 will keep you cool in the summer. The house has high-speed WiFi internet, an oversized attached two-car garage, seven (7) HD Smart TVs with digital TV programming, one wood-burning fireplace, two gas log fireplaces, four (4) game tables, a cornhole game, and a hot tub. Pets are allowed, dogs only, and standard pet fees apply.

"Your home was an absolutely perfect space home base for our family of eight during the wedding weekend for my daughter. It was just 15 minutes from Appalachian View, their venue, and we loved the open space and coziness, the attention to details, the roomy kitchen and eating areas, the responsiveness of the management team when we had questions, and the game room was a huge hit for our whole family! We loved it and would come back in a heartbeat! And did I mention the incredible view of the mountains from the deck?!?"

"This is such an amazing home for a large family get away: The location is perfect for all the High Country has to offer. It's very quite with tons of room for a very large family. The amenities were excellent for cooking, games and just hanging out. This will become a part of an annual family gagging moving forward"

"We really enjoyed our stay at this home. It was in a beautiful gated neighborhood, the view from the deck was beautiful, the beds were very comfortable and all of the games really added a lot of fun. If you plan to use the grill, check to make sure it has been fixed since we couldn't get it to heat up enough to cook steaks. But that is fixable and wouldn't stop us from booking this home again. It was just lovely. We were in awe of being there. It was in a great location as well and easy to get to."

"We had two families with a total of 9 people (4 adults, and 5 kids between 5 and 13). We all had a great time and there was plenty of room so that we were never cramped or getting on each others' nerves. During our week at Villa Costalotta, we spent two non-consecutive days just hanging out at the cabin. Between the air hockey, pool table, darts, tvs, and multiple rooms, no one got cranky about being cooped up. There is quite a bit to do within a 30-minute drive, convenient grocery stores and restaurants, too."

"We loved the property and the house was perfect for my family. we will be back again as we had so much fun in the area and the peacefulness of this house made it perfect. When we were in the house, the numerous amount of activities was perfect and offered a wide range of things to do for everyone. The hot tub was perfect for the cooler nights so that was a welcomed addition to the house. The only concern we had was that there was a water leak coming from basement bathroom but Carolina properties was on top of it. Issue wasn't fixed because we couldn't identify source but response time was amazing. We did find source of issue next day and related information to Carolina properties. Other Issues we noticed but didn't bother us at all were back doors were very hard to lock (maybe something to add to instructions?), fireplace in basement though pilot was on did not work with any of the switches and you would have had to use the switch in the fireplace, the fridge was inconsistent in cooling, and grill barely worked. Grill never got hot enough to actually cook anything so we couldn't use it"

"We brought our 4 children and their families for a 4 night early holiday gathering. With 9 adults, 2 toddlers and one first grader, we found this space to be almost perfect. I use rental homes often and this was one of the best experiences so far. We wanted space for everyone, games to play, good cooking arrangements, mountain views, quick access to the high country, laundry facilities, good WIFI and adequate parking. I recommend this house very very highly. We did a lot of cooking so that area will get a detailed review. The kitchen with breakfast area and mudroom/laundry room had great flow, lighting and space. The pots and pans with matching lids were excellent quality and of great variety. We had just enough plates and bowls for all of us and plenty of forks, but not quite as many knives or teaspoons. Glasses and coffee cups were abundant. No plastic cups for kids. Minimal beer steins and wine glasses, if that matters to you, we managed fine. The steak and cooking knives were more than adequate. Wine cork screw, scissors and can opener present. No ice cream scoop, vegetable peeler, hot pan trivets, microwave dish covers. Sufficient and functional were cooking spatulas, spoons, tongs, turners, whisks, serving utensils, rectangular casserole pans, mixing bowls. Toaster, crockpot and coffee pot present. One wooden cutting board in fair shape. No blender, mixer, teakettle. The space in the fridge/freezer is on the small side for the size of the house. The table seated all of us easily. We were provided with sponge, dish soap and one dishwasher tablet, one roll of paper towels, one good quality small soap in each bathroom, one roll toilet paper in each toilet, dish towels, several beachy towels near hot tub, one bath towel per person, 2 trash can liners. We brought laundry soap and dishwasher tablets. Other renters had left spray oil, salt and pepper, some spices. We brought olive oil, vinegar, honey, jelly, peanut butter, which I mention because some rentals will have those on hand but this one did not on this occasion. Bedrooms were very comfortable and the master suite is worth fighting over. The only real problem with bed arrangements is having the bunkbeds in the hall open to the sounds and traffic of the fabulous game room with nearby luxurious hot tub. We should have put adults in the bunkbeds rather than small kids. The game tables were in good shape and were much enjoyed, along with the TV screens. WiFi seemed to be adequate for our usage, but not sure how much streaming was being done. We had 4 vehicles and there was plenty of room to park. Our weather was never freezing but the roads are steep and narrow if there is ice. There is not much flat space with grass to call a yard for outdoor play. The decks are terrific, the main floor common area was spacious for kids to run around and there is space in the garage for kicking around a ball or riding a small bike. The mountainside is too steep for walking around on the 5 acres, but there are trails and parks within 5 miles. There is so much to do in the area that we never lacked for activities and went to bed tired every night. An essential ceiling light needed replacement, which was accomplished within a few hours of an email to the office. A phone call earlier did not seem to produce results but my cell service at the house was poor, so I may have missed the return call. For those who are avid hikers, the trailhead for Profile trail to access the top of Grandfather Mountain is just across highway 105. We went only 3 miles up to see the profile view and it was an excellent trail. Going farther would be much more demanding of the body so do your research before taking it on. We will probably be back to the area next year and would be glad to rent with Carolina Cabin again."

"My family thoroughly enjoyed the house, which was spacious, well appointed, situated in a quiet neighborhood and had a magnificent view of Grandfather Mountain from the back decks and hot tub. The fireplaces made the house very cozy. We did have two suggestions. First, with a large group it would be very helpful if there were a second refrigerator. If space is a challenge it could be put in the garage. Second, unless we overlooked it we did not find any firewood for the wood burning fireplace. If you aren't going to provide it it would be helpful if you would let guests know so they can bring their own. Thanks again for a great stay."

"We enjoyed our stay! It felt like a home away from home. It was very clean and cozy. The view was incredible! It was enough room where no one felt crowded. It was worth the stay and we would rent again. If I would say anything that was missing was a iron and ironing board. Other than that the house had everything that we needed."

"We loved our time at Villa Costalotta. The home is incredibly spacious and well-suited to host multiple families of various age groups. Lots of great amenities in the home and its location close to town make this a wonderful rental home. The bedrooms are big, beds are comfortable and kitchen is stocked with everything you need for a care-free vacation week. Villa Costalotta provided the perfect opportunity for our family to relax and catch-up after a long time apart. We had a minor issue with the hot tub; the Carolina Cabins team was quick to respond and resolved the problem within a few hours. Thank you for making this a wonderful week for our family. We look forward to a future stay!"

"The home is as advertised...gorgeous from top to bottom. Provides a warm and cozy feel that's perfect for creating life long memories. The location of the home is great...it's minutes from restaurants and activities. Check-In and Check-Out was easy. There were a few drawbacks, such as, the floors and steps weren't swept when we arrived. The half bath and lower level toilets weren't clean and there were a few stains on the comforter in the Master bedroom, King suite, and one of the queen beds upstairs. I would recommend the rental agency double check behind the cleaning crew to make sure they actually do the work. The owners have done a fantastic job with the decor or the home so I didn't take away any stars as they are using a rental agency."

"The home is beautiful and so comfortable to stay in. The 3 floors allowed us to spread out and have lots of space. We traveled with multiple families and many teenagers and everyone could still have their own space. The roads in the subdivision were well maintained even in winter weather. We loved the home and location, and can't wait for an excuse to stay there again!"
