"Our group of 7 enjoyed the home very much. The views are great, and the home has been well maintained and is very clean. There is plenty of space for everyone to socialize, but also enough room for “quiet time”. Other reviewers have mentioned the steep driveway: We managed to get our Suburban in and out without too much trouble and a little help from a spotter…I imagine it would be more challenging with snow on the ground. Carolina Cabin Rentals did a great job communicating with us and ensuring we were “all set” for our visit. Overall, we highly recommend the home and Carolina Cabin Rentals!"

"We loved the property and enjoyed ourselves. Everything worked great. The rental agency was hassle free and extremely helpful and efficient. Property was clean upon arrival but noticed the carpet was a little dirty in the living room. I will recommend your company and the cabin and would love to have another stay in the future if vacations allow. Thank you very much."

"Beautiful cabin, well stocked. Views for miles, can see Sugar Mountain and well beyond. Our group of 10 had plenty of room to spread out. Location is incredible, far enough up the mountain to have great views, but not so fat that it takes forever to get down the mountain to visit other towns. 3 minutes from the free Beech Mountain sledding hill, which our kids loved. Close to other tubing and skiing options. House was clean and well kept, and host was friendly and responsive. You'll love this place too."

"Great cabin with exceptional views. Cabin was very spacious, clean, and the 2 decks both provided incredible views of the mountains. Beds were all very comfortable and the Kitchen/Living Room area was great for cooking and being able to hang out. Upstairs master has amazing views of the entire cabin and provided incredible views through the windows. We had a small issue with the fire place which was fixed within 2 hours of calling for service."

"We had a great one-week stay at the cabin. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was well laid out with adequate cooking utensils, etc. Biggest issue was road noise when outside other than late at night. Hot tub was nice with a nice view. The TVs all looked nice but we didn't even use them. We had one issue with a leaking toilet that got resolved. Communication could have been better but I think that was more of an issue with the maintenance contractor as opposed to the agency and didn't really impact us too much. A few other repairs are needed, such as sliding screen doors. I did appreciate all the light switches being nicely labelled- it often takes a few days to figure out what switch controls which fixture when staying at a vacation cabin. Was nice having garage to keep our cartoon carrier and wet hiking boots, etc, after a busy day."

"This is a nice spacious 3 level cabin in Banner Elk. The main road up the mountain is very steep and the driveway down to the house is also very steep. Fine for summer trips, but would be scary for snow and ice months. The kitchen could use a few new fry pans, but we found everything else we needed to cook all our meals. The long mountain views off the back deck were very pretty. Family room can seat 6 people and the dining room table seats 8 with 2 bar stools (that were a bit wobbly and could use some adjustments). The bedrooms were spacious and beds were firm. We would have prefered 2 more King beds instead of the two Queen beds as our family all have king beds for more comfort (maybe an improvement when the mattresses get replaced in the future). The main floor bathroom needs a new toilet paper holder as the current one is falling off the wall. Overall it is a great house if you want a view and 3 floors to spread out. The downstairs double bunk beds were nice with 4 XL twins, which is much nicer than the normal shorter twin beds, and the lower level bathroom was a generous size with a double sink. One other recommendation is to get several rocker chairs for the main level deck. (the white ones in the pictures are not at the house any more). There were only 5 chairs on the main deck which wasn't enough for our family. We would enjoy staying here again next year."

"We have been to Banner Elk / Beach MNT several times and it's always a great trip. The location of this cabin is ideal. However the driveway to the property is SOMETHING SERIOUS. Yes you do need a 4 Wheel Drive and an appropriate vehicle in all places in the area, however, this driveway to this property is uniquely dangerous- and thinking about driving on it during snowy weather became very stressful - which on our last day, we had several inches of snow. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because this home really needs larger barriers on the drop off edges of the driveway, at the top where the sharp curve is and at the bottom of the driveway where the drop off is. Both places are life threatening in snowy/icy weather- mostly to people who are not use to snow. Other than that, The cabin was perfect - it was roomy, clean and the views are amazing. The Carolina Cabin service who answered the phone were always great and responsive. The communication through the entire process was wonderful. I recommend taking your children to the sledding hill in Beach MNT, and eating at Bella's. Great time !"

"Very nice place, we really enjoyed the view off the deck, the hot tub adn grill are also nice. Would recommend to others, very convenient to Sugar mountain for snowsports as well as Banner Elk. Side note the tea kettle has a leak and one of the gas tanks for the grill also has a bad valve, not a big deal but thought you'd want to know. Overall a terrific place!"

"This cabin was a beautiful place to getaway. We were only a family of 4 so it was way more than what we needed, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The kitchen was fully equipped. The views were stunning. Hot tub was perfectly heated and ready when we arrived. My boys loved the keyboard and the foosball table. Carolina Cabins had great customer service. Our only criticism that would prevent us from renting this again in the winter was the steep and curvy driveway. We were lucky enough to have snow on the Beech Mountain slopes, but the icy driveway about gave us a heart attack. Note, we live in Florida and are not experienced with mountain driving in winter. We rented a GMC Tahoe which we thought would do the job, but it couldn't get up the driveway. We bought lots of salt bags and even bought $140 tire chains for our rental car! (we left those items behind.... maybe they will be useful to future renters?) Anyway, aside from the driveway, we enjoyed this property very much."

"We had a great weekend at the Big Bear Cabin in Banner Elk! The cabin was perfectly set up for our group of ten, with plenty of gathering space around the fireplace/TV/kitchen, and great views over the mountains. Communication was great and accessing the home was easy. However, the driveway to the home is STEEP so they are not exaggerating when they say drive carefully/arrive early/use 4WD vehicles if the weather is bad. We definitely can't wait for our next trip to this cabin!"

"My wife and I loved just about everything about this cabin. The drive up to it from downtown Banner Elk is nice, the cabin is well furnished and beautiful, the view is absolutely fantastic. We lucked out and got to see the view on a perfectly blue sky day, a slightly overcast day, a dreary day, and finally a morning of snow - each kind of weather was something special due to the interplay of clouds and sunrise/sunset. The hot tub was excellent and there is even a collection of board games and a PS3 in the bottom floor! My one and only complaint is that the toilet seat on the main floor doesn't like to stay up, if you put the lid and seat up and don't hold them firmly for a second the seat will drop down rather suddenly. But, seriously, that's it. The furniture is comfortable, the bathrooms are great, everything is clean, and the instructions to get in and out of the cabin were thorough. We will definitely be back!"

"We were looking for a house with a great view. We found it with Big Bear. It also offers privacy and seclusion. Parking is plentiful for 4 vehicles. We also wanted a spacious kitchen with a large gathering area. This cabin offers both. The bedrooms were very comfortable. And.... very quiet. People able to sleep after others were awake. Also, the house is only 5 minutes to Banner Elk “downtown” and taxi service is available. In summary, this cabin could be called “Great Bear” because...well... it was GREAT!"

"The house is in a super location. Close to town of Banner Elk and center of Beech Mountain. The view was lovely and we had plenty of room for 3 couples and a teen. The hot tub was a nice addition and super easy to operate. The driveway is a concern for winter renters. It was super steep and dicey to navigate. Overall we enjoyed our stay."

"The cabin was very clean & well laid out. Perfect for multiple families. The location was good for both Sugar & Beech mountain. The only negative was the steep dangerous driveway. If the conditions are icy you will need a 4 wheel drive & possibly a tow truck."
