Description

Just head out your front door to fish, or enjoy the river view from your porch while staying in this cozy riverfront cabin with AC, firepit, gas fireplace. Kids enjoy wading the shallow section nearby, or playing in the flat yard, while adults cast a line in. Just minutes from the historic Mast General Store and ever-popular Valle Crucis Park, it is still convenient to historic downtown Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk as well.

ACCOMMODATIONS:
Main level: Master with queen and private bath with walk-in shower, second bedroom with king, second full bath, sleeper in living room
Upper level: Loft with two twins

Looking for a Valle Crucis riverfront cabin that is peaceful yet still convenient to everything? Welcome to Bridgepoint Cabin, located right on the Watauga River. Whether you want to step off your porch for fishing and wading, or just rock away the hours while listening to the river roll by, this family vacation rental is for you! The convenient single-level living and flat yard are a plus for families with young children and grandparents alike. Best of all, you are still just five minutes from historic downtown Boone and within a few more minutes of Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Grandfather Mountain.

As you approach the cabin across the wooden bridge, look to your left and you are likely to see someone taking advantage of the great trout fishing in this section of the river. A glance to the right and you may see one of the grey herons that frequent this stretch – they are fishing too!
No need to give up your river view when going inside – the open living area overlooks the river. On chilly days, enjoy a fire in the custom gas fireplace while relaxing in the comfortable furnishings, or enjoy a movie on the flat screen television. The open kitchen with tiled counters and backsplash makes meal preparation a snap so you can get back outside for more High Country adventures.

Just off the main living area are two wood-paneled bedrooms. The master has a king bed and television in case you like to wake up with the news or weather. The second bedroom has a lovely wood and scrollwork queen bed. For the extra guest there is also a sleeper sofa in the living room.
In the mornings, we recommend stepping out through the French doors to the covered porch with your coffee and settling in on the porch swing while you watch the mist rise off the river. After breakfast, head just a couple miles down the road and visit the original Mast General Store. After that, why not stop in at the little deli and pick up some sandwiches or a slice of one of their great desserts, then pull in at the popular Valle Crucis Park for a picnic. After lunch, the family can choose their activity – enjoy a stroll or bike ride on the paved paths, let the kids play on the swings, or take advantage of another fishing opportunity – the park offers both river access and a stocked pond for the kids to try, unless they prefer trying to catch one of the large bullfrogs! Summer evenings often offer live Music in the Valle there at the park for a little foot-tapping fun.
That evening, back at Bridgepoint Cabin, walk across the yard to the river and enjoy! Feet sore from all the day's exploring? Just have a seat on the riverbank and soak them in the cool water. There is a shallow section flowing across the rocks where the kids can play, or cast a line into the deeper sections and see if you can catch dinner. There's nothing like firing up the grill for the evening catch.

If you plan to catch an Appalachian State University Mountaineers football game – that's right, the ones who were on the cover of Sports Illustrated – or head over to Blowing Rock for Art in the Park or a visit to Tweetsie Railroad, or to the slopes at Appalachian Ski Mountain, Sugar Mountain or tubing at Hawksnest, this cabin provides a great starting point. It is just a short drive to most area attractions and events.
Any time of year, Bridgepoint Cabin in historic Valle Crucis NC is a great home base for your mountain adventures and relaxing retreats.

Bridgepoint Cabin has convenient paved access all the way to the driveway.

"The cabin was wonderful! It was clean and well-stocked with essentials. The corner lot is right by a one lane bridge over the river. It’s a lovely view. Travelers with small children should note that the ladder to the loft is quite steep - there’s excellent handrails and tread on the steps, but little feet may falter. Also, the back yard drops steeply to the street and river, and not all cars drive slowly despite the narrow bridge. These are not critiques of the beautiful property, just useful notes for parents!"

Also Over yonder restaurant was good too. It had what we needed for our family. Fishing at the river in front of the house for my husband, pet friendly for our small doodle who loved it, my daughter loved the loft, and I loved the hot tub. We will definitely be back. Thank you for sharing your home for other families to make wonderful memories in the beautiful mountains:)) "

"At first sight, the cabin itself was decent. However, there are several things that need maintenance. The flooring is rotting underneath the boards. It felt like we were going to fall through in the hallway. The kitchen counter has this little shelf that's about to fall off, so don't put anything on it. By the way, we had a family of 5 and they gave us 2 small kitchen garbage bags for the whole week, bring your own! If you are planning on cooking, maybe bring some larger pots and baking trays. The deck had areas that were falling apart. The stairs on the back need replaced. Watch the first step from the top, it's slightly higher than a normal step and takes some getting used to. The bottom steps are missing screws and wobble quite a bit. The hot tub cover is old and torn up. The hot tub doesn't stay hot longer than about 30 minutes. The furniture on the porch was so uncomfortable. There is NO privacy on this property. The cabin next door is very close and you can see them and hear their conversations. There is a bridge right outside of the cabin that is frequented by cars and pedestrian traffic, and I mean all day. People and families would come stand and fish and play on the banks directly behind the cabin. Overall, we still had an okay time. The cabin is very close to attractions and stores so that's convenient. For spending as much as we did on this stay, we were sorely disappointed."

"The property listing is rather misleading, as it mentions a/c and heat. There is no central air conditioning, or heating. I couldn’t imagine going here during the summer. The a/c is wall units in each room. While we were there, 2 were in an error state and the one in the smallest bedroom was running. Unfortunately, we checked in when the weather was in the 70’s. It was very stuffy, I’m not sure if this is due to the location, the lack of air flow or the cabin hasn’t been visited in a while. I had to look up the part number to figure out how to use the units. They ran for about 4 hours after that, then went back into error mode. As we looked around, the first thing that greeted us was a envelope from the cleaning crew. I’m use to those, that is not what bothered me. However this one had writing on it - “Cleaner gets $X from fee”. That is tasteless and confusing. There were several cobwebs around the living room and on the windows. There are small handprints from a child all over the tv. The overall look and feel is clean, however when you look into it, it’s not. The location is nice and exactly as the pictures show. What they don’t show, is the bridge that cars drive on at all hours of the night. I understand cars need to get to places, but with the main bedroom right by the road… it’s rather hard to get a good nights sleep. I would recommend this cabin when it is not too hot, or cold. As there is a quilt on each bed, with no further bedding. A recommendation for future guests, you need to put the a/c instruction manual in the welcome book. The welcome book is very helpful with things to do and places to see. The living room furniture is very comfortable. Overall the cabin as a whole is very nice. There are just a few issues that could be addressed."

"The bathrooms and kitchen were clean. The house has a lot of decorations so it was very dusty. The location is on the corner of a very busy street and cars are going way faster than they should. The main room is spacious but the second room with the queen is extremely small only fitting the bed. The bathroom is also extremely small in the Queen room. The shower is decent size but the toilet and sink are tiny. The other bathroom is spacious. Kitchen items necessary to cook many different things were all there. I wouldn’t recommend two families to stay. Maybe one family with a few children, some older kids because the loft upstairs has a very steep ladder to climb. Not a bad place to stay but the pictures made it seem more spacious than it actually was and you are right next door to someone else. You also have no privacy fishing or quiet as the cars flying by and constant city workers getting water in and out of the stream at the bridge, sometimes even putting green chemicals in it right where you are trying to fish. We called local office and were told it was feed and seed from local farms."

"Overall we had a great stay in this cabin. The inside was clean and cozy and the beds were comfortable. The ladder to the loft is very steep which was fine for our teenagers but I wouldn’t put young kids up there. There were a few maintenance things that didn’t bother us too much (ripped looking carpet between rooms where one floor was replaced and not the other, a few cracked bathroom tiles, no light on the side of the porch). Our biggest complaint was the hot tub smelled a little off and looked a little murky and one of my kids ended up with a rash at the end of the week. It also was very difficult to control the temp. It would get too hot if left on when not in use then take hours to cool enough to use it. Also we paid $25 for a bundle of firewood and 2 fire starters. The wood was there but no fire starters. We actually had to make a late run to Walmart because we couldn’t get the fire to start. Otherwise it is is a great location (about 20-25 min to almost all the of cute little towns in the area. The creek behind the house is pretty. There is also a really nice park less than a mile down the road with nice paved paths for walking and they have weekly concerts on the summer. We would definitely return, hopefully the hot tub would be repaired by then!"

The hot tub was clean and very relaxing to sit and listen to the river. We greatly enjoyed sitting on the porch and taking in the beautiful scenery! We loved the fishing area! There were a lot of trout...they just weren't biting that day. Haha but with scenery like that, it didn't matter. The only things that I didn't know...and maybe somehow I overlooked it, was that the privacy is a row trees between cabins. There are about 5 cabins lining the river bank. We had the corner lot, right at the little bridge, and the trees between the houses, but, It was still quiet. There was a little more traffic than I would've thought, but it was kinda nice talking to more skilled fishermen that stopped and gave me pointers. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here and hope to come back again!"

""Magical" is not too strong of a word to describe our stay at this cabin. At first, the location felt a little "high traffic" - its right near the bridge over the Watauga, so keep that in mind if you're hoping for a truly isolated getaway. However, within a few hours we came to love vibe of this area and were mesmerized by the fly fishermen (and women!) doing their thing in the Watauga. The cabin is a quick walk to cool Valle Crucis (with a great community park!), and a super short drive between Boone, Banner Elk and the Blue Ridge Parkway to hop on trails. The porch was perfect, beds were comfy, the kitchen was well-stocked, the hosts were great, the hot tub was awesome and oh... don't miss the Jerky Outpost! We were just two friends reconnecting after over a year of exhausting work, but we're actively planning another trip with our families. Highly recommend!"

"We visited the property last year and fell in love with it. We are back for year 2 (with hope of a trip every year forward). The cabin is well maintained and offers plenty of space. My boys loved playing in the loft. Fireplace kept us warm. Hot tub is a great perk. The river and nearby park offered plenty of areas for trout fishing. If not frozen over, the marshy area in the park is stocked full of fat bass and sunfish. 4WD is a must in winter. The road in will wake you up when it is covered in ice. For a quiet stay, this place is it. Blue Ridge Rentals makes it simple process and staff is extremely friendly. Come enjoy Boone!"

"Great scenery for a nice, relaxing getaway. Loved that they had a list of nearby hikes by degree of difficulty. Made it easy to pull up directions and go without wasting any time. We enjoyed sipping our coffee on the porch, watching the fly fishers wading through the river in the morning. Even with it raining every day, we had a lovely time."

"This little cabin was perfect for me and my husband! We had friends meet us for a day and we fished the river, built a fire in the firepit, made smores, and grilled burgers and dogs for dinner. We really enjoyed our stay and the sound of the river flowing by was so relaxing. We would definitely consider staying again!"

"We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. Although it was closer to a fairly well traveled road and I was not anticipating that. The river was wonderful and we so enjoyed relaxing on the porch and hearing the water run. We also saw quite a few people fly fishing. The location was perfect for our daily excursions. The decor was cute and the cabin was just the right size for our party of three. We never needed the loft. All in all a great weekend."

"Next to the Watauga River, right in front of a bridge, there's nothing better than soaking in a hot tub or sitting by the fire pit after a long day whitewater rafting! Just cozy enough for for your close knit group or family. That comfy cabin feel. Had an issue with an amenity but they were very quick to resolve it! Thanks guys! You made our first AirBnb experience the benchmark to many more we'll have!"

"What a cozy little cabin. The cabin is exactly how it is pictured. The river backs up to the property and is peaceful to listen to. The hot tub is also an added perk. On the inside, the house is large enough to seat two families--esp with the loft. My two boys, wife and I (and dog) had plenty of space. The evenings were quiet and I also had the best nap I've had in years. I did not bring my rods to fish, but there were a ton of trout hanging out under the bridge. Just very peaceful. We will be back. Thanks to the Blue Ridge staff for being so courteous. Thanks for having us."

"The cabin was cozy and as pictured on the sight. Close to lots of activities for the kids. Overall a wonderful getaway with family. The only thing I would change is the location so close to the road/bridge with children it made me nervous- though we had no issues at all. It was a gorgeous cabin with everything we needed to feel right at home."

"This was a great cabin we were able to check in early, it was a great location. We enjoyed walking along the creek and even crossed the creek and walked back. A few of us even took the tube out and tubed a little in the river, seeing since we couldn't find any where to go snow tubing. We also took advantage of the hot tub and fire pit. We will definitely rent this cabin every time we want to go to the mountains."

"My family and I stayed at Bridgepoint Cabin for four nights, 8/18-8/22. It was our first trip to the Banner Elk/Boone area and we could not have chosen a better cabin for our needs. The home is a good size for a family with two small children and could have supported at least two or there more adults comfortably as well. The biggest plus for us was the fact that it is centrally located and convenient to a lot of things to do in the area. We visited Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain, gem mining, and several local dining options. All of these were within a 15-20 min drive, with most even less than that. Our oldest daughter loved the hot tub on the back deck and playing in the creek behind the house. We're already thinking of booking again for a winter trip at some point soon to see the area during a different season."

"Bridgepoint Cabin is a lovely rental. It comfortably sleeps 4 people. It is located on the edge of a scenic and actually fishable creek! The cabin is well-appointed and decorated in a warm, rustic, High Country décor. The heat and A/C work well, the jacuzzi a lovely enhancement on the outside deck. We often enjoy late evenings on the deck watching the fly fishermen as the sun sets. I’d rate this cabin an A for a couple or a small family. Easy access to the main roads, and no gravel or steep roads-which we find a big plus in High Country!"

"We loved our stay at Bridgepoint Cabin! My two boys and dog and I spent a long weekend here, and the owner has thought of everything. Fully stocked kitchen supplies, wi-fi, plenty of towels, local information, comfy beds, coffee, fireplace, hot tub, tasteful decor, plenty of hot water, and everything in between. My boys (10 and 7) really loved cuddling with the teddy bears that were laying around and really loved the loft bedroom. It was cold when we arrived but the heat warmed up quickly and it was SO cozy! We sat in the hot tub every night, cooked lunches and dinners, and had coffee on the porch while listening to the river. We took a drive through the Blue Ridge Parkway to see the fall colors, took the kids to the trout farm where my 10-year-old caught a 3-lb Rainbow Trout. (They cleaned it for us and so we were able to have it for dinner, which was fun for the kids!) We fished in the river in front of the cabin until the cold front came through. Had a great dinner at Over Yonder and of course visited the Mast General Store and the House of Jerky. The kids didn't ask for their phones/iPads or to watch TV even one time! They both came away saying "Best weekend EVER!" The cabin itself is much more beautiful and cozy in person than the photos depict. And the location is fantastic. We'll definitely be back!"
