Centrally located on the north side of the island on the Atlantic, San Juan is Puerto Rico's capital and most populous city. If you're looking for a nightlife-filled trip, consider accommodation near the Isla Verde area, which offers an ample choice of bars, clubs, and casinos. For a cultural interlude, be sure to visit Castillo San Felipe del Morro, a 16th-century Spanish fort. While San Juan offers great beaches, it's also where to head for spring break if you plan to go shopping or to the theater.
Just west of San Juan is the pretty area of Dorado. Head here for chic resorts, a plentiful choice of uncrowded beaches, and the Bosque de Pterocarpus nature preserve.
For a relaxed spring break in Puerto Rico with plenty of beach time, head to this quiet town on the west side of the island. Enjoy tranquil beaches on the mostly calm waters of the Bahia de Boquerón bay, try your hand at jet skiing, and visit the beautiful Boquerón National Park.
Situated on the far west of the island, this town is known as a surfer's paradise. Come here to hit the waves on Domes Beach and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere. Rincón is also treasured as one of the less-developed, more natural towns on the island, yet it offers plentiful independent restaurants, cafes, and shops.
Head to the city of Fajardo on the eastern side of the island for nature and water sports. Visit a historic lighthouse and a bioluminescent lagoon at the Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve, hike in El Yunque National Forest, and then try your hand at sailing just off Seven Seas Beach. If you're looking for an active spring break in Puerto Rico, you'll find it in Fajardo.
