The nearest airport to Providence is T. F. Green, located in Warwick, which is just a 15-minute drive away. Rhode Island College is to the west of Downtown, passing through Smith Street and facing the Triggs Memorial Golf Course.
Rhode Island College's students are very lucky, as there are a lot of fantastic institutions to discover in Providence. The Museum of Natural History and Planetarium at Roger Williams Park inspires visitors with exhibits on outer space as well as our own planet. John Brown House Museum is a mansion dating all the way back from 1768.
Be sure to visit the Rhode Island State House, a gorgeous building dating from the late 19th century. Its distinct marble dome is spectacular. The Old Stone Bank dates from the mid-19th century, and the Industrial Trust Tower is the city's tallest.
You'll find the Downtown core easy to walk around, as it's pretty compact. That said, it's bursting with excellent bars, clubs, restaurants, and theaters. Downtown is particularly great for glitzy cocktail bars. If you're looking for something more student friendly, the Federal Hill neighborhood has great dive bars.
