Where to See 4th of July Fireworks in Philadelphia

Philadelphia's fireworks can be seen from many vantage points across the city and whether you want to be in the center of the action or watch from a less crowded location, there are plenty of spots to catch a glimpse of this iconic Independence Day tradition.

  • 1. The Parkway

Grab yourself a spot on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for a top view of the fabulous fireworks celebrating the 4th of July. The whole area is closed to traffic and it is one of the best spots in town to soak up the celebratory atmosphere and enjoy the festivities.

  • 2. Sister Cities Park

This much-admired city park is an excellent spot, especially if you are with children, as it offers great views but avoids the worst of the crowds who congregate along the Parkway. As well as offering more space there are water fountains to play in and vendors where you can buy a drink while waiting for the main event.

  • 3. Camden Waterfront

Take the short boat trip across the water and find yourself a spot at Camden Waterfront for a view of the fireworks like no other. With the wonderful backdrop of the city skyline, and despite the fact that the waterfront is technically in New Jersey, it's still one of the best spots to watch the Independence Day celebrations in Philadelphia.

  • 4. Penn Museum and Eastern State Penitentiary

These two top museums are open to the public for free on Independence Day as part of the wider Wawa festival. It's a great way to teach the kids some American history without the usual price tag.
