Promised Land State Park Cabins

This road leads to a naturally created glacial lake. Within the park itself, most of the hiking trails are easily accessible to all. Mother Nature provides an extra show in summer, when the mountain laurel is blooming.

Set out from your choice of Promised Land State Park cabins and experience this easy 1.4 mile hike through the forests of beech, oak, maple and hemlock trees. Featuring small waterfalls and rustic footbridges, this is the perfect family hike. Keep an eye out for ospreys, Bald Eagles, and an occasional Black Bear.

The lake is the place for watersports and relaxing on the sand, but it also offers a hiking trail around the perimeter. The trail stays about 200 yards from the lake bank until you come to the trail end, which features a lovely view over the water.

Here's the place for fishing, boating, kayaking – or just relaxing in the clear lake water. You can launch your own kayak, or rent one from the park staff. There are plenty of picnic areas and room on the beach for the entire family to relax in the cool lake breeze.

Bring the kids to the largest country store in Pike County. Learn all about gem mining and the local fossils found in the area. There's a mining area where quartz, amethyst, citrine, calcite, and much more can be found. Parents will want to check out the locally made candles and food items.
