Pew Island is one of several small islands in the lake, offering spectacular views of the surrounding shoreline, where mature oak, sycamore, and maple trees grow in abundance. Part of the scenery is a large colony of water lilies just off the island.
This trail is a three-mile walk through brushy growth, fairly flat ground and no climbing. Keep an eye out for birds in the spring and summer. Cherokee Trail is located on the north side of the lake. This is the perfect hike if you're staying in one of several Indian Lake State Park hotels.

Indian Lake has become a popular destination in the area for boating, water skiing, and swimming in warm weather, and ice fishing and snowmobiling in winter. Indian Lake offers well-maintained camping sites and two swimming beaches.
There are several public boat ramps around the lake, and two designated areas of the lake: one for skiing and tubing and one for boating only. Swimmers will appreciate the speed restrictions in the beach areas. Several local restaurants also have docks, including McDonald's, Acheson's Resort, Jack and Do's Pizza, and the Moose Club.
Check out the unique cave formations in Ohio Caverns, one of Ohio's most popular visitor destinations. The temperature in the caves remains a constant 54 degrees year round, so you can cool off if you visit in summer. Kids will enjoy searching for gemstones; buy a rough bag in the shop and then sluice to find a treasure.
