Binghamton is the area's main transport hub, and long distance buses and trains to Syracuse all connect through the city's regional transportation hub. Local Centro buses run through Syracuse city center and out to the University, as well as connecting with local points of interest such as Destiny USA mall and sports center.
Held at the end of August every year, the Great New York State Fair is a 13 day extravaganza of agricultural competition, food, drink and all the fun of the fair. It's a showcase of the very best New York produce, and an event which isn't to be missed.
This innovative museum in the center of Syracuse tells the story of the Erie Canal, which runs from Albany to Niagara Falls. Step inside a full-sized canal boat and learn about the lives of the people who lived along the canal or worked on the boats. Entry is free. The museum is family-friendly, and the kids will love dressing up in historic costumes, putting on a puppet show or trying out traditional toys and games.
