Wherever you're coming from, you'll probably find it easy to reach Poughkeepsie. JFK, Newark Liberty, and LaGuardia are all within two hours' drive, while Albany International is 90 minutes away.
Visit throughout the year to get a sense of student life at the university. Tours focus on the campus itself, transfer opportunities, funding, and life in Poughkeepsie and at Marist College.
Book tours of the Vanderbilt Mansion and the Clinton House, two jewels of Poughkeepsie history. The latter, owned by the first state governor, dates to the mid-18th century. For an evening of high culture, head to the Bardavon 1869 Opera House, and for some outdoor pursuits, visit Quiet Cove Riverfront Park for a barbeque and hike along the scenic trails.
As NYC is so close by, a visit to Marist College can also easily include a big-city adventure. Catch a Broadway show, enjoy the views from the Empire State Building, and go shopping on Fifth Avenue.
