Statue of Liberty: Visit Lady Liberty on Your Stay in New York

The Statue of Liberty isn't just the symbol of New York – Lady Liberty is a great American icon. Opt for a vacation rental near the Statue of Liberty in Lower Manhattan, and you can beat the crowds by getting one of the earlier ferries, and be close to other attractions such as Wall Street and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Our recommendations

Climb the crown

To take on the challenge of over 350 steps, then join fellow visitors on the climb to the Statue of Liberty's crown, where you can enjoy breathtaking views over New York City.

Pedestal challenge

Should that sound like too much hard work, climb to the top of the pedestal instead, at about half the full height of the statue.

Liberty Island

Make sure to spend some time exploring Liberty Island at the base of the statue, where you can get an idea of its enormous scale.

Useful information

If you have your heart set on the climb to the top, tickets for the crown are very popular and must booked in advance. Some pedestal tickets may be available at the last minute, but these often sell out, so advance booking is also recommended for these.

The climbs to the crown and the pedestal are strenuous and should only be attempted if you're in good health. Whereas you can't take any bags into the statue, there are locker facilities available on site,

Boat trips to Liberty Island run throughout the day. There should be no trouble buying tickets for your tour when you arrive in New York, though you can book in advance if you prefer. You can also get a great view of the Statue of Liberty from the free Staten Island ferry, though it doesn't make a stop at Liberty Island.
