Depending where you stay in the various Clarkco State Park cabins, you'll likely traverse some or all of the park's singular trail, which makes a five-mile loop around the lake. Cyclists are also permitted to use this trail.
Clarkco State Park's five-mile nature trail encircles the entire park. Open all year round, this well-marked stretch will take you to a natural spring at the Spring Island Rest Area. The paved surface makes it an easy walk for people of all skill levels, and there are sectioned portions for shorter walks as well.
The nature trail is sectioned off into half-mile stretches. Be sure to hike to section at the top end of Clarkco Lake, where an observation tower provides ample views over the park.
It might not be hitting the trails per se, but for those with their own kayaks or canoes, the boat launch on 65-acre Clarkco Lake makes it easy to "hike" via a day spent paddling.
With Clarkco State Park cabins as home base, you'll have tons of options for family activities. While the little ones might be content merely running around outdoors or playing on the zero depth splash pad, guests interested in the outdoors can try fishing, boating, and exciting land activities.
Go old school with a nice family picnic at one of the 60 picnic sites, equipped with barbecue grills, tables, and play areas. For larger groups, there are 3 big spaces which can be reserved in advance.
Head to the 65-acre Clarkco Lake and enjoy a peaceful afternoon of fishing. If you are feeling more adventurous, water skiing is an excellent option.
No outing with kids is complete without a playground, and Clarkco State Park understands this well. Let your children have fun at the park's slides or play a game of tag on the picturesque waterfront.
Challenge your friends to a game of tennis at the lighted courts, or go disc golfing at the nine-hole disc course. The park also has softball and baseball diamonds and a basketball court.
