It takes around 37 minutes to drive from Maui to Haleakala, a park known for its inactive volcano and rare Hawaiian geese. The rim of the volcano’s crater offers superb views of the barren land below. Walk or bike along the park's verdant trails. Leashed pets are allowed in the parking lots and drive-up camping areas and on the paved paths.
This 110-acre park is the biggest in the Maui parks system. Pets are allowed to roam leash-free, and there are two fenced zones – one for large hounds and another for canines under 25 pounds. Drinking stations, restrooms, picnic areas, playground, parking, and softball/baseball fields are some of the park's amenities.
