BWI Marshall Airport or Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport are both roughly two-and-a-half hours' drive (depending on traffic) from St. Mary's City. Car hire is recommended from one of the major towns, cities, or Maryland airports to help you get around, with St. Mary's College of Maryland well signposted for visitors. You can also use the St Mary's Transit System buses, with the Southern Route covering St. Mary's City.

This attraction is open year-round and features a visitor center, the St. John's Site Museum and the popular Living History Exhibits, such as replica shops and a printing press. All ages can enjoy visiting a plantation garden, colonial ship, Trinity Church, or one of the regular events.
This university city is great for outdoor enthusiasts, especially if you enjoy water-based activities. The Western Potomac River area has a water trail for canoes running from Great Mills Launch to St. Mary's City. The surrounding areas have a choice of beaches and state parks with hiking trails, lakes and disc golf courses.
