Experience the park's lovely scenery via its hiking trails, easily accessible from the North Toledo Bend State Park cabins. Cyclists are also permitted to use the trails, which is a fun option if you've brought your bikes along.
Also known as Trail A, this 1.5mi. loop trail leads through a beautiful pine forest. Its short length and gentle hills make it appropriate for hikers of all ages.
At four miles, this longer loop trail is a bit more demanding. However, despite its length, it is not a difficult trail to hike overall.
Boating in many forms is quite popular on Toledo Bend Reservoir—rent a canoe on-site, if you haven't brought your own, to enjoy seeing the landscape from a different perspective.
A stay in one of the North Toledo Bend State Park cabins lets you and your family enjoy an array of activities beyond hiking. Louisiana is known for its temperate winter weather and hot summers, and though the park's pool operates on a seasonal schedule, most of the rest of the area activities can be enjoyed year-round.
The reservoir is one of the state's most popular fishing spots, with freshwater fishing competitions often hosted at the site. The park, therefore, offers a fish cleaning station and a spacious double ramp boat launch. You can also rent a flat bottom boat at the park, and then get to angling for largemouth bass, bream, white perch, and catfish.
The park's Olympic-sized swimming pool, open from Memorial Day to Labor Day (check exact hours and cleaning times in advance, online or at the park) is equipped with restrooms, a nearby concession area, and is fun for the whole family.
Whether you're cooking up your own catch of the day or not, kicking back and relaxing together over a picnic lunch or dinner at North Toledo Bend State Park is a great way to spend time together as a family.
