Start the day off with a high-altitude run through historic downtown Truckee, slightly removed from Lake Tahoe but an important part of the region’s character and history. This downhill run is meant for all levels and family fun, although more serious runners can pre-register for the elite group event. If you’re not up for a run, arrive early for a pancake breakfast and stay to cheer the runners on. Stick around after the run for the annual 4th of July parade through town.
Combine the benefits of beach and town by spending the day at Commons Beach in downtown Tahoe City. Festivities take place throughout the day at the beach and around town. Offerings include food, drinks, music, and shopping. You can choose to spend the whole day here, then stay for the fireworks at night.
The Red, White, and Tahoe Blue celebration in Incline Village offers a day full of family-friendly activities. In addition to music all day and fireworks after dark, visitors can enjoy a community fair on the Village Green offering food, drinks, and events. Arrive early for a pancake breakfast and parade. Stick around for a pie-eating contest and rubber duck race. Adults will enjoy beer, wine, and cheese offerings. As part of the Independence Day celebrations, veterans will be honored throughout the day.
