Nearly a 1000 years old, its features include an inscription in Norman French, carved memorials and records of the coronation of King Charles II after the announcement that Charles I had been executed in London.
This pentagonal fort dates from the 17th Century and occupies a conspicuous position overlooking the Castlepark peninsula in Kinsale harbour. Built to defend the harbour immediately after the siege of Kinsale, it is now a protected National Monument.
