Within the university's city, you'll discover a number of fantastic entertainment and cultural options. Many students head to the KU Biodiversity Institute and Natural History Museum to enrich their studies. The Lawrence Arts Center showcases professional and amateur artists' work.
There's a great selection of local music venues in town. Head to The Granada for big-name acts in this gorgeous 1930s building. Liberty Hall is another high-quality theater, and is also popular with students who hang out in the café or catch films at the on-site cinema.
Massachusetts Street is the main hub for stores. You'll find big-name brands as well as independent boutiques. These range from thrift stores to upscale clothing emporia. Westridge Shopping Center and Pine Ridge Plaza are two of the bigger malls.
If you get the chance, drive up to Kansas City and check out its gorgeous Downtown area. The Power and Light District is a particularly vibrant quarter, with excellent bars and restaurants to discover. Sports fans can also catch the Kansas City Chiefs (football) and Kansas City Royals (baseball) playing here, depending on the season.
