Downtown, you'll find an array of attractive art deco skyscrapers, as well as the National WWI Museum and Memorial within the sprawling Penn Valley Park. Visit the Kansas City Workhouse, a former 19th-century jail that resembles an old English castle, and Legoland Discovery Center, great fun for the young and young at heart.
A fairly new development that's a favorite for Columbia College - Kansas City students, this district is home to excellent bars and restaurants, as well as AMC's flagship theater. The theater is worth visiting for a show if only to experience the vibrating seats!
Kansas City is superb for sports. Check out the Kansas City Royals for baseball, the Kansas City Chiefs for football, or the Kansas City Roller Warriors, the local women's roller derby league. The city also has several excellent casinos, such as Ameristar and Isle of Capri.
Kansas City is also well known for its vibrant jazz scene. Visit the Blue Room, the Green Lady Lounge, and the Kill Devil Club for an intimate experience. The Sprint Center holds larger events and concerts.
