The campus enjoys a fantastic central location close to the best sights of the city, adjacent to districts such as Farish Street and Capitol Neighbors.
The University provides a regular shuttle service for staff, students, and visitors. The service runs between 7:00am and 4:00pm and connects with the center of town. There are several stops on campus, including the College of Education & Human Development and the Student Center building.
The closest airport to the university is Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport, eleven miles away. There are no direct public transit services from the airport to campus, however, so if you are traveling via public transportation, a change in the center of Jackson is necessary.
Don't miss the Mississippi Museum of Art, just under two miles from campus. It's the state's largest art museum, and besides its great collection, it offers free admission to most exhibits as well as the beautiful garden. For a more local theme, visit the Smith Robertson Museum, which is housed in a restored building and features exhibits on the area's African-American history. If you've brought the little ones along, consider a visit to the interactive Mississippi Children's Museum, about a fifteen minute drive from campus.
