This trail is wide but mostly uphill, though at 1.1 miles even beginner hikers can make a go of it. This trail is close to all the campsites, which makes it a perfect choice for combining backpacking and camping out.
Sentinel Trail is 1.2 miles, which should be doable for most hikers. But the tenderfoots should turn back before you come to these landmark trails: Ozzie’s Point, Louis’ Point, and Lookout Point. These are more challenging, but worth it for the spectacular views.
These park trails follow the footsteps of previous generations of native residents; around bluffs and rock formations to the level areas suitable for camping. Or choose one of many Mississippi Palisades State Park cabins as your home base. Look for waterfowl and wild turkey, and the assorted spring blooms.
