Any visitor to Honolulu needs to visit Waikiki, the gorgeous and popular stretch of coast by the center of the city. Be sure to check out a luau, a traditional feast and dance party that's an important part of Hawaiian culture.
Head to the downtown Ala Moana Center for shopping, perhaps for some "slippahs" (the local word for sandals). You can also learn more about the island in this district by visiting attractions such as the Hawaii State Art Museum and the Mission Houses Museum. Make sure to check out Aloha Tower, where there's an observation deck that's free to access.
