Gerald R. Ford International Airport is just 15 minutes by car from the campus, driving along 44th Street. It's another 15-minute drive to the center of Grand Rapids, which is where you'll find the galleries, restaurants, and bars on your visit.
The Gerald R. Ford Museum takes a close look at the particular circumstances that led to the former vice-president taking over after the Watergate scandal. Having grown up in Grand Rapids, he remains the town's most famous former resident. Grand Rapids Art Museum, the Van Andel Museum Center, and the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park offer art and history exhibits.
Grand Rapids also has a thriving theater and music scene. The Grand Rapids Symphony performs at the DeVos Performance Hall, while the Van Andel Arena holds large-scale sport and music events. The Circle Theater and Dog Story Theatre are where you'll catch plays, comedy, and even magic shows.
Reeds Lake is just outside of town and is ideal for walking and pier fishing. The banks of the mighty Lake Michigan lie a 45-minute drive from Grand Rapids.
