Most people access the park via the ferry from Honeymoon Island. When you exit the ferry, just follow the markers to make a 3.5-mile loop around the park. There are a pond and a freshwater spring that used to provide water for a homestead on the island.
Since a hurricane divided the original Hog Island into two in the 1920's, the island actually touches the mainland of Clearwater Beach, Florida. Start at Clearwater, one of the Gulf Coast's most famous beaches, and walk the 4 miles to where the Beach Trail starts on the island. Clearwater is home to several cabins by Caladesi Island State Park.
