Planning Your Florida Amusement Park Vacation

After Disneyland set up its East Coast base in Orlando, Florida emerged as the amusement park capital of the world. The Magic Kingdom, Disney's original park has the highest turnout of any other theme park on the planet. Universal Orlando Resort is also not far behind. While these two heavyweights battle for supremacy, you will find other amusement parks worth checking out during your vacation, including Legoland Florida, Busch Gardens Tampa, and SeaWorld Orlando.

How We Produced This Research

Price = Regular Parking + Day Ticket + Lunch Deal + One Night's Stay

Ticket: Advance price of a ticket for one adult, valid on any day of the 2019 season. If parks did not offer anytime tickets, we chose June 1, 2019 as our default date. If parks offered only multi-day tickets, we chose the two-day option and halved the price.

Parking: The price listed on the official park website for parking in the standard parking lot for one day, purchased online before visiting the park.

Meal: The cost of purchasing a cheeseburger, fries, and drink combo deal. If no combo deal was listed, we looked at the individual prices of the same items and then combined them. We used the website websites and online menus to find out these prices, and also contacted the parks' customer support teams

Accommodation: We used our own metasearch data to determine the price (per person per night) to stay in nearby accommodations (based on a group of 4) listed on HomeToGo. We examined all dates in between April 6 and June 22, 2019 and then calculated an average.

We performed this research during March 2019. In cases where we could not find prices for 2019, we used prices from our Theme Park Index 2018 instead. All prices in this year's ranking do not include taxes or fees. Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions on this study.
