The campus itself is a relatively short car journey from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. This is the largest major gateway to the area. Flagstaff is another 90 minutes from here, although several of the smaller towns also offer accommodation for visitors.
The Arizona Snowbowl is one of the few places you can ski in the state, so is an ideal place to hit the slopes among the San Francisco Mountains. Mt. Humphrey's Peak is the tallest mountain in Arizona, so offers a challenge for even the most seasoned hikers. Flagstaff Urban Trails and Bikeways offer less extreme adventures around the area. As always, the Arizona climate can catch many visitors off guard, so be sure to take all necessary precautions and carry plenty of food and water!
The Grand Canyon National Park is only 80 minutes north of Flagstaff. If you have never had the opportunity to see this world-famous natural wonder, this is an excellent opportunity to do so. The sheer scale of the canyon is always an awe-inspiring experience for visitors.
