The Best Hiking Trails in Gulf State Park
There are 25 miles of hiking trails in Gulf State Park. A total of seven trails, of varying degrees of difficulty, run through the park, with each providing a unique perspective of the area. Named after the legend of a half-man, half-cat said to patrol the area, this 2.2-mile route goes past several Native American sites. There is a picnic pavilion at the 1-mile mark, and the trail goes past the park's butterfly garden.

This 1.75-mile trail runs past wildflowers and through groves of tall pine trees. Look out for wildlife such as alligators, which are often seen on the trail.

The longest trail in the park at 2.75 miles, Gulf Oak Ridge offers views across the Gulf of Mexico. There are a few steep sections on this trail, but the views make the effort worthwhile. Look out for the different migratory bird species that can be seen on the trail.
