Explore The Pet Friendly Cities of Delaware

Delaware might be one of the original thirteen colonies, but this state has a young heart and loves pets. Whether it is fishing, hiking, or just relaxing at the beach, a vacation here is never short on exciting activities for you and your four-legged friend. From luxurious hotels to vacation rentals, you’re guaranteed to find pet friendly accommodations in Delaware.

Pet-Friendly beaches in Delaware

Head to this mid-Atlantic state from spring through fall and you can enjoy typically temperate outdoor weather with your pup. Besides the state's dog-friendly beaches, you'll also find plenty of parks both you and your dog will enjoy.

  • 1. Wilmington

Rockwood Park has a small unfenced dog park. The greater park features picnic, hiking, and grilling areas as well as restrooms and athletic fields offering views of the city. The 100-year-old Rockford Tower is the park’s centerpiece. Other pet-friendly areas in Wilmington include the Brandywine Park Off-Leash Area and Talley Day Bark Park. You can also bring your pet to enjoy outdoor seating at the Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant or Brew Haha.

  • 2. Dover

Enjoy an afternoon at the Air Mobility Command Museum, which accommodates pets provided they are well-mannered, on a leash, and under the owner's control at all times. Offering hiking trails, birdwatching, fishing, and a large sheltered picnic area, Tidbury Park is a great place to take your four-legged friend. Dogs are permitted at Kitts Hummock beach, not far from Dover. There are several dog-friendly restaurants in Dover, including Governor’s Café, Grey Fox Grille Public House, and McGlynns Pub.

  • 3. Bethany Beach

You are allowed to stroll down the pristine beach with your dog provided the pup is leashed. Baja Beach House Grill and Off the Hook are both pet-friendly restaurants in Bethany Beach.
