Vander Veer Botanical Park
Since 1885, these formal gardens have been wowing visitors who stroll through 33 acres of parkland, from the Conservatory to the Stone Fountain. Come for the Chrysanthemum Festival for a riot of form and color you won't forget, while the Poinsettia Lights Display is the best way to welcome in the winter vacation season.
Credit Island
Named for its former identity as an American Indian trading post, Credit was once represented by the promise of hides and skins to be delivered at a later date. Its community park, sports fields, and golf course are listed in the Davenport Register of Historic Properties and played host to a battle in 1812 between the Sauk Indians and a British regiment, recorded by Black Hawk.
Rock Island Arsenal
Originally established as a government island in 1816, Arsenal Island is still the location of Fort Armstrong. It is the largest government-owned weapons manufacturer in the United States and has been since the 1880s.
