The college itself is located in the suburbs, but you'll find driving into central Dallas easy from here. Be sure to take the opportunity to visit the world-class museums in the city. The Metroplex is also the home of the Dallas Cowboys, who play at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, between Dallas and Fort Worth.
You can fly into Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. From there, it's just a 30-minute drive to accommodations near Southern Methodist University, via TX-114. From central Fort Worth, it's approximately a 50-minute drive to the campus. Austin and Houston are around three to four hours from the college by car. Rush hour can be busy in the Metroplex, so allow more time.
Known for its love of sports, this is also balanced with high culture at its various museums. Visit the Dallas Museum of Art, Museum of Geometric and MADI Art, and Meadows Museum of Art to get a real feel for it. Six Flags Over Texas also sits within the Metroplex. It's just a 30-minute drive from Downtown Dallas. The Zero Gravity Thrill Rides Amusement Park is a similar distance away.
Dallas is also a superb place to head out for a night of great food and merriment. The West End is ideal for visitors who appreciate a calm ambience. It has a number of home cooking-style restaurants and smaller bars. Uptown is the chicest quarter in Dallas, with cocktail bars aplenty.
