Your kids are sure to enjoy the nostalgic tractor rides at Ely Stage Stop and Country Museum in Kelseyville. There's a great planetarium in town too. But even if you don't make it there, you’ll still be able to enjoy fantastic nightly stargazing from just about any location in and around Lake County.
Just 25 miles away in Lakeport is Paradise Skate Roller Rink, a sure-fire hit with kids of all ages. Or you can play a fun family game of mini-golf at the 18-hole Tatonka Land Mini Golf, located right in Clear Lake. If you’re traveling with teens, Lake County is known for being one of the best hubs for all-terrain vehicle, four-wheeler, and dirt bike off-roading in all of California. Cow Mountain alone offers over 120 miles of off-highway vehicle trails.
Clear Lake State Park has a great swimming beach for kids, bass fishing, an interpretive trail, and a visitor center with an aquarium, while Cole Creek campground offers biking trails for all ages. In nearby Fort Bragg, you can ride on a historic steam train through the majestic redwood forests, or go treasure hunting for pieces of naturally polished beach glass in MacKerricher State Park. For more hidden treasures, try your hand at geocaching along Clear Lake where you’ll also spot some of the area’s wildlife and abundance of bird species.
