Useful Information for Your Visit to the University of Vermont
The University of Vermont has its home in Burlington, a typical New England town packed with historic buildings and formal parks. Perhaps the most attractive feature of the city is the large waterfront area, perfect for recreation or just enjoying the views. Burlington has a lot to offer but you can also venture out of the city and see the hills and forests which Vermont is so famous for.
1. Getting to the University of Vermont
Burlington is a small, compact city and it's easy to get around on foot. Parking is restricted on the streets around the campus, so visitors are encouraged to make use of CATS transportation. This is a fleet of eco-friendly buses that whisk passengers between the University, airport and city center.
2. Lake Champlain Ferries
One of the best ways of seeing the city is from the water. The ferry from Burlington across the lake to Port Kent takes around an hour. As you cross the lake you'll enjoy impressive lake and mountain views, and even if you're not traveling, the ferry dock café serves food and cocktails to anyone wishing to enjoy the lakeside location.
3. ECHO Leahy Center
Right by the side of Lake Champlain is Vermont's flagship science and nature center. The center is particularly appealing to families, as kids can get up close with all manner of fish and small animals, and get involved with interactive science exhibits.
